Anyone know what happened to that site? Used to be a great source of information on everything concerning the struggle in the basque country. A couple of weeks ago the site was suddenly gone, and just never came back. Looks like it's been censored, like the batsuna page :(

Its in Spanish. I googled for "Basque Red". From what i can decipher, it says that the Canadian server which hosted the site closed it down, accusing it of terrorism (or at least of supporting it).

ya, it says that the canadian gov has it listed as a terrorist site (i guess its cause of the terrorist acts the ETA have done) and that they either had to change the site completely or it would be closed down. so tahts what happened.

That's bullshit, the Basques haven't done anything worse than the spanish government has done to them, why didn't they ban the spanish governments site.

I used to visit that site occasionally as well. It appears that xphile2868 and chavel are correct. Here is what I found:

I am grateful to him very much for his your precisions. Because undoubtedly
they aim which has been the mechanism of the uncompressible mistake of the RCMP on
having warned you on the web Basque Red Net.
In effect: In agreement with the antiterrorist Law 2001 of Canada Euskadi ta
Askatasuna appears in the list of "terrorists" entities established by
application of the part II.1 of the criminal Code (of July 23, 2002).
The members of Basque Red Net we are, certainly, communists and radical basques
independentists. But Basque Red Net is not even Euskadi ta Askatasuna and is
not even associated to Euskadi ta Askatasuna.
The National Spanish Hearing, the unconstitutional court of exception that
prolongs to the sinister Court of Franco's Public Order, has made illegals the political
parties and the organizations Batasuna, Herri Batasuna, Euskal Herritarrok, KAS,
Jarrai, Haika, Segi, Saki, Gestoras pro Amnistía, etc, etc, etc because SAYS that they are
Euskadi ta Askatasuna. Though still she has not proved it in no contradictory judgment.
But the National Hearing has never acted against Basque Red Net.
It is true that the web Basque Red Net has a section titled "News on ETA and
her fight against Spain and France" But all the news there published on ETA are a
copy (and in some cases our translation) of news and texts published BEFORE for
diaries and televisions of the Spanish State. Publication of news or texts NEVER
punished by the Spanish judges.
We will make come to the RCMP these considerations. In order that she rectifies
her unjustified and rash action

I have a question for Baque comrades, or anyone that knows about Baque people. If someone has the last name "Basque", is it probable that they come from Basque background?
TIA.
