I'm not much of an electronic music fan, unless it leans more towards industrial. I've heard a lot of it I just don't get it. As for new wave, I'm not sure who you would consider new wave. To me(and I don't claim to be an authority on the subject) new wave was mostly a bunch of shit that came out during the 80's. It seemed like the suits got scared by punk, so they smoothed it up, put a happy face on it and viola you had new wave. So you had people with what were condsidered "punk" hair and clothing but they were non=threatening. Then there were all those crappy 80s movies with their gnu wave soundtracks (Valley Girl, the list goe on). One example of this is the Go Gos, they were a dirty punk band then the suits got them to dress nice get dolled up and they were sold to the public.
That said, I like the Epoxies who some consider new wave, but I think they leam more towards punk and the song themes are often pretty dark. which is not something I associate with new wave.

I'm into a few New-Wave-y bands, like Hit Parade and The Astronauts . . .
I like some of The Faint's material.
More broadly, I quite unashedly love Chumbawamba.

I'll second that.
They also aren't new wave.

Chumbawamba are only cool, cause their commies. Their music, not so cool.
I like Native American flute music. Other than that its mostly metal for me. Although techno is one of my guilty pleasures.

I like The Killers, The Bravery, blink-182, The White Stripes, The Used, and The Strokes. Why do all these modern bands start with "The"?

Hmm, bands like The Faint, The Bravery, The Killers, New Order, bands that take rock and throw in synthesizers. It is like a pop format of music down with synthesizers and guitars and what not. Epoxies are a good example too.

The Bravery for me. I really like their commercial song "An Honest Mistake", and most songs on the album.

I'm terribly sorry.
But does no one have a problem with the generic aspects of all these bands you mention? Does no one get annoyed how you can't really seperate some of these damn bands from one another?
I mean, the pioneers are always good, and then the people that master it, but the "cash in" bands that have no discernible unique quality just piss me off.

i rejected it.
The bands that epitomized "new wave"
Tears for Fears
Simple Minds
Howard Jones
The Fixx
The Cure
and a bunch of other very similiar sounding. that was the sound, electronics revisting pop --- and much to be left for want.

Yeah that's the kind of shit that mostly comes to mind when I think new wave, the Cure are the only band worth a shit out of that list.
