I like Punk Rock better than anything else. You should be able to select more than one.

This is a fairly stupid poll, though I picked the "sub-genre", simplistically and generally refered to as, "old school"...

I mean, I would admire a more cyclic, though constant line of musicians which permeate many, many "sub-genres", but which all entertain the same aesthetic essence in their work.

Please don't be telling us what's stupid and what's not, look how many posts you've made. I know we all started off like that. It isn't a stupid poll, I think that rockfan has made a good poll, it show's what "sub-genre" that most of the Rev. Lefters like

I wasn't aware postcounts mattered as to my blunt opinion, I'm sorry "Anarcho-Communist".

It's not a good poll, you are a fucking idiot.

I'm sorry but I am not a homo-sexual. I don't have a problem with them therefore I don't have a problem with you. This thread is for discussing "Sub-Genre" not ########. Perhaps you should find yourself a lady that is loyal to you, maybe she will do the honour

Good comeback, Sgt. Savage.

I'm sure that Rockfan does not want his poll (good or bad) derailed by your incoherant babbling, rather poor insults and jibes about homosexuality.

As for the poll, I can't answer. I like way too much rock music, from Indie to Metal.

what would you put if you like like stuff like archers of loaf, superchunk, the pixies, dinosaur jr.? what sub-genre do those belong to?

Maybe "Cool Alternative Dudes" (late 80s, early 90s?

I'm sure rockfan, like a awe-inspiring Lester Bangs, could come up with some great category heading.

Yeah, what bands etc? Old UK stuff like the smiths, or US bands?

I just love the whole genre in general. Stuff like the Pixies, the flamming lips, Sushi Robo, and Modest Mouse I think is preety cool. I don't have alot of indie rock albums i definitly need to get more. But i freaking love it.

I wouldn't really class the Pixies as indie, but then again I don't know what I would class them as.

i don't really know that much US indie, its just not stuff I've ever really listened to.

If you want to listen to some stuff (not necessarily indie in any strict term (as its very hard to define, short of record labels), but of that kinda style... if it can get played in an indie club) then i recommend the following: -

The Smiths - All albums (my favourate is Meat is Murder)
Suede
Pulp
Manic Street Preachers
Echo and the Bunnymen - Porcupine is an amazing album
Embrace - a bit poppy
Feeder - Now very poppy, but back in the day they were amazing
Starsailor
Idlewild
The Levellers (well they are bit hard to catagorise even as indie)
The Libertines/Babyshambles
Razorlight (again poppy)
The Stranglers
The wannadies
The Stone Roses
Joy Division
Dandy Warhols
Cornershop
The cranberries

I like "The Pixies", I think we need to start to make a category for this "different" styles of Rock :D

Grunge is good all around. The only thing I disagree with is how someone can see one single person to be a GOD (Kurt Cobain). My nickname contains a quote he made in his suicide letter, only because it has feeling and impact.

If Grunge takes it out, why does it only have 1 vote compared to others with 4?

Grunge is really bad in general because it was a marketing scheme. I like Nirvana, and some of the others which came out of the 80s (from bands liek Minutemen-Husker Du gene of spirit), but most 90s "grunge" bands are no better than the pop artists you most likely despise.

Why would you have a selection pop-rock/punk? It makes no sense.
