View Full Version : Commified monuments.

Does anybody have images of monuments or government buildings that people have edited to look communist/socialist? Or real-life happenings such as the activists that raised the Soviet flag over the Duma building in Russia.
Example (I made this one):

Boo!!!!
How about Mount Rushmore with Marx, Che, Marcos, and Luxembourg.
I know there is gonna be some ass asking for Marx, Che, Lenin, and Castro... but I thought I'd throw in Marcos and Luxembourg for some diversity.
BTW, if someone could pull that off and make it believable... holy jesus wow.

I think a hammer is more apprioate, since the hammer can represent labor more clearly.
Could you make a hammer version?

I had the same thought before I even made the sickle one, but I couldn't find a good picture of a hammer. Find me a suitable hammer, and I'll gladly try to put it in.
Yeah.

Pretend that I have posted a picture of a single pixel that is exactly the same color as the background. That picture is a graphical representation of how much I care what you believe.

Wait... That's what been irking me! There's been something about the thread title, "Commified monuments", that just struck me as strange. I just realized what it is. It sounds like a Spoonerism of "Mummified communists". I smell ideas. And embalming oils.

Ahh, now that's an idea. It could take some doing, but that's what I do. I... do. Besides, it might actually be easier considering the fact that I haven't found a hammer picture that I would put in her aloft hand yet.

What I was saying is that if you did that in Paint, that's incredible.
But I guess no one caught my subtle meaning in... plain text.

rosa luxemburg-Rosa Luxemburg (March 5, 1870 or 1871 - January 15, 1919, in Polish language Róża Luksemburg) was a Marxist politician, socialist philosopher, and revolutionary. She was a social democratic theorist of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, and later the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany. She started the newspaper The Red Flag, and cofounded the Spartakusbund, a Marxist revolutionary group that became the Communist Party of Germany and took part in an unsuccessful revolution in Berlin in January, 1919. The uprising was carried out against Rosa's orders, and crushed by the remnants of the monarchist army and freelance right-wing militias collectively called the Freikorps, which were sent in by the government. Luxemburg and hundreds of others were captured, tortured, and killed.
sub-commendante marcos-Subcomandante Insurgente Marcos describes himself as the spokesperson for the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) but, since he is so prominent a figure, he is considered by many to be one of its main leaders.
According to the Mexican government, Marcos' real name is Rafael Sebastián Guillén Vicente. Guillén studied high school at Instituto Cultural Tampico, a Jesuit school in Tampico, Tamaulipas, where he became acquainted with Liberation Theology. He later moved to Mexico City where he graduated from the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM), then received a masters' degree in philosophy at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and began work as a professor at the UAM. After that he left to begin his revolutionary activity. While Marcos has always denied being Rafael Guillén, Guillén's family are unaware of what happened to him and they refuse to say if they think Marcos and Rafael are the same person or not. During the Great March to Mexico City in 2001, Marcos visited the UAM and during his speech he made clear that he had at least been there before.
Like many of his generation he was radicalised by the events of 1968 and became a militant in a Maoist organisation. However, the encounter with the outlook of the indigenous peasants of Chiapas transformed the Zapatistas' ideology, and Marcos has embraced an approach to social revolution that has been described by some as post-modernist; others argue that his philosophies and actions are more closely related to the revisionist Marxist ideals of Antonio Gramsci that were popular in Mexico during his time at university.
Marcos in his own words:
Marcos is gay in San Francisco, black in South Africa, an Asian in Europe, a Chicano in San Ysidro, an anarchist in Spain, a Palestinian in Israel, a Mayan Indian in the streets of San Cristobal, a gang member in Neza, a rocker in the National University, a Jew in Germany, an ombudsman in the Defense Ministry, a communist in the post-Cold War era, an artist without gallery or portfolio.... A pacifist in Bosnia, a housewife alone on Saturday night in any neighborhood in any city in Mexico, a striker in the CTM, a reporter writing filler stories for the back pages, a single woman on the subway at 10 pm, a peasant without land, an unemployed worker... an unhappy student, a dissident amid free market economics, a writer without books or readers, and, of course, a Zapatista in the mountains of southeast Mexico. So Marcos is a human being, any human being, in this world. Marcos is all the exploited, marginalized and oppressed minorities, resisting and saying, 'Enough'!

spare me of the dogma rise up. Rosa's programs of parliamentary reforms over revolution directly lead to the ease at which the Nazis rose to power. Bourgeois reforms are AT BEST revisionism.

This is so pathetic, but I'll not get stuck on that ;)
Anyknowho', a tip on those "rocky-mountaint-statues";
Try to make them more NATURAL. They look they're
literally - which I also think they ARE - just simply pasted
into the mountain, like paper-cut. Try to make some gradual
"border"'s o're faces, perhaps a little "stoneish"-color's goin'
Qu'ed into the faces' own colors, gradually, from every angle.
It might take time, but it's worth it...if you care about this symbolic-shit :D
