View Full Version : Name Needed

I am planning to start an underground newsletter at school; but I need a name for it. I can't really think of anything at the moment. I only have a few things I am considering:
Blood Money
Blutgeld
Libration
Thoughtcrime
Oldspeak
Any other advice for a title would be appreciated. Just make sure it is not TOO openly communistic/rebellious.
So no names like 'The Communist' or 'Revolution'..

I agree that the name shouldn't be overtly communist, but why shouldn't it sound rebellious? I would think that would appeal to the kids you want to reach out to more than anything else. After all, it is "underground", right?
How about UNDERGROUND VOICES ?
I also hope you'll try to get one or two other kids to help you with it if possible; it will make for a better paper.
Good Luck!!

Underground Voices sounds really good
I suggested "Reds Rage" but I guess it cannot include political content in the title or else...well conclusion obvious.

How about Solidarity Forever?
Kez

im with Rob,
but maybe take the forever bit off, and use it as a slogan instead under the title.
"Solidarity"
"-Forever in Solidarity with the Working Class of the world"
dont use spark, as it'll sound cheesy, and you have to work fucki hard to live up to a great name such as Spark
although for non-socialists this could be a good inviting attention grabbing name

If it sounds too rebellious; I'll get in trouble. I don't know about where you live; but preaching revolution over here isn't the most tolerated profession. But thanks for the advice. I would get more kids; but other than a few 'poser communists' who aren't even leftists; I can't seem to find anyone. Thank you everyone for your imput though.

Call it "The Morlocks" or something related to the Morlocks (e.g. The Morlockian Herald, The Morlockian Sentinel). If you've read H.G. Wells' The Time Machine (a canonical classic of literature not just of science fiction but of all literature) you will understand the association of the Morlocks and the term underground (in this case literally underground). Moreover, the Morlocks are the direct descendants of the proletariat and have taken over the world.
Other options include naming your newletter The Anarchistic Argonauts, or The Proletariat, ownlife, facecrime, crimethink
P.S. If you let me or anyone else on this board.... we could contribute an essay or something. Cool. Also read the section in Abbie Hoffman's Steal this book where he talks about how to set up your underground newspaper. It may be out of date in some areas but you could learn something or other. I hope you can keep us up to date.

Remember to put "Guilty parties" or "AIDING AND ABETTING" and then your name or name de guerre, or whatever you choose.

I reflected more on a title for your underground publication. I thought of "The Morlockian
Chronicles," "The Morlockian Journal," "prolefeed" (from 1984) or "Pyromaniacs' Journal"

I myself once composed a semi-quasi socialist manifesto which was initially planned to be an introduction and first installment of forthcoming articles espousing what I termed as Federal Socialism. This manifesto I gave to my sister for safe-keeping with thoughts of future publication;however, possessing a somewhat analythical mind and given to the evolutional process of dialectics I find old ideas being continuously confronted by the bombardment of antagonistic forces brought about by habitual study and the free-flow of individual thought. All this being said I ll come directly to the point of this post,I had determined to name these writings "Spark of Truth".In your literary venture always bear well in mind that the overall key is substance rather than whatever one may choose to label the cover, for a box of manure will stink no matter how beautiful its wrapper and bow.
