The "e" Symbol

I was hoping to get a little background information on this symbol and its significance.

i have never seen it, suppose it has somthing to do with the earth

wait...I don't think that's what this exact symbol is...it has blue in it so it symbolizes something ecological. I think it's more to do with environmentalism.

It has a resemblance to the Greek letter Theta also, though I don't know what that would mean:

That is a Greek letter Theta, and Theta is the symbol for Earth Day!

Well here in the U.S. anyway, it is the symbol on the ecology/environmental flag.

It's the symbol for Ecology, which was developed by Ron Cobb also in 1969.

"Cobb had explained that his new ecology symbol combined the small "e" for ecology - signifying the yielding, feminine nature - and a small "o" for one, organic, and organism. The inner circle represented wholeness and harmony, and the outer ellipse represented the transcendent unity that pervades all dualities." - Rex Welyer, Greenpeace: How a Group of Ecologists, Journalists, and Visionaries Changed the World, page 62, line 3.
