Hey everyone, I'm a new member here and I'm looking forward to learning alot from all your thoughts and ideas. My question here is what is everyone trying to achieve here? What is the vision that everyone shares, if there was one thing that every member could agree on what they want, what would it be? I only ask b/c I can imagine that most if everyone here is unhappy with the events going on today and I just want to find out where we could all start to focus on. Something really needs to be done and I think that it is closer than ever. It might not be as extreme as some people may think but even if its the smallest step possible, its better than nothing. Remember, you have to walk before you can crawl.

Hmmm... I feel that this question is a bit too ambituous. There are so many factions and sub-factions of leftism, (Anarchists, Maoists, Leninists, Trotskyists, etc.), and therefore so many different opinions on Socialism/Communism, that I feel to ascertain one common vision in all those groups, is a very difficult task. If one says a socialist state (oxymoron in terms, I know), we then get the arguements as to how it is set up, who would lead the revolution, how would it be goverened, etc. So I must confess, I don't know if there is one unifying vision in all of us.

Actually, it's not an oxymoron, since socialism still has a state, though people in socialism are not controlled by the state - the state mostly works as an overseer. But, in communism there are truly no state at all.
I don't know if there is one unifying vision in all of us.
I think we all agree that communism should be the system all over the world, because it is for the people. I hope we all do.
If anybody thinks that the system we are fighting for is a system where the state tells us what to do, where there are a secret police controlling what to say or to see, and where the government is controlled by one person/small group of people, then I don't think those persons have found the right place to post on. At least, that is not the society I want, may it be today or in the future.

We want freedom and liberation. That is the goal. How we get there is what we need to discuss.

Heh, those damn members in the OI make it difficult.
But what all the Leftist here clearly want is the dismantling of the bourgeois. Some wish to replace it (Leninists, Maoists, Stalinists, etc.) others wish to destroy it. But we all want to impact the bourgeois.

Ultimate goal: A classless, ie. communist, world of freely associating humans free to reach their full potential.
Intermediate goal: Overthrow the dictatorship of the bourgeoise and replace it with a dictatorship of the people (probably mostly proletariant, or people with a proletariat class conscious in the beginning) slowly drawing in more and more people until achieving the ultimate goal.
