I think romanm is being misunderstood here; he's saying that opponents of abortion should, if they were to be consistent, also advocate compulsory vasectomies...since this would be a 100% barrier to abortion.

On the other hand, I think romanm misunderstands the anti-abortion position...they think that pregnancy and birth is "a good thing" in and of itself. If presented with the option of going back to the days when women had five or ten babies during their reproductive years, the anti-abortionists would be delighted to accept.

That's what they really mean by "pro-life".

Men are willing to put wimmin through life threatening pregnacies, but they aren't even willing to undergo a simple procedure. The qoutes are designed to draw attention to patriarchy and the lenghts some men are willing to go to enforce it. Of course this isn't new, the multilation and rape of wimmin's bodies as a method of control is fairly common.. from footbinding to forced births.. The qoutes are designed to show how despite claims about God and prtecting babies, it is really about control.

As I said before, Roman, if everyone would mind their own damn business and stay out of people's bedrooms, this wouldn't be an issue in the first place. There would be no abortion debate whatsoever if people would just stay the hell out of each other's lives.
