On the one hand, the guns were there to help capture the imagination of the people. But more important, since we knew that you couldn't observe the police without guns, we took our guns with us to let the police know that we have an equalizer.

That dude from the movie needs to grow a mustache before he can play Bobby Seale.

i think its time for a new black panther party, just focused on all lower class communities, and wait awhile before following the police armed as to gain more support before getting noticed by the fbi

No, that movie is not about the Black Panthers, it's about Abbie Hoffman and it's called Steal this Movie but Bobby Seale is portrayed in that movie resisting the fascist judge Julius Hoffman (no relation to Abbie) when he was co-indicted with Abbie and Jerry Rubin and others for conspiracy to incite a riot in Chicago 1968... There is a movie about the Black Panthers directed by Mario Van Peebles

Huey was the real deal. He wasn't one of these phonies.

At times Huey articulated thehe correct class analysis that Amerikkkkans as a whole are bunch of parasite PIGS. Amerikkkans won't make revolution.

Amerikkkans are the class enemy.

I have little respect for Newton.

Sure he created the BPP, but that is all that he did. I have more respect for Brown or Seale. People who actually did stuff.

I'm not sure that is all he did. He was the symbol and image for which the Panther movement grew while he was behind bars and he also created the 10 Point platform that the pary was based on. But even if Huey did nothing else, which he didn't, that those two things by themselves are big things. To write the platform and statment that he Party would be based on and the responsibility was huge.

I agree with Hampton. How can you do more than what Newton did especially when you are behind bars for some set up by the KKKops and catamite J. Edgar Hoover? I read Revolutionary Suicide and was amazed by how articulate and well-read Huey was. I was amazed because I didn't know much abou the BPP and just thought of them as well-meaning, angry militants but who were uneducated because of Amerikkkan injustice and inequality. Boy was I wrong.
The kicked ass in every conceivable manner.
