Riight. This gets suprising when? *yawn* Look, really, besides the US, they're probably the most reactionary land out there. Only difference is that in America, you atleast have minorities of un-reactionaries (like liberals (perhaps not so few) and us commies) who gets shunned everyday, but over there, it is no opposition to fight 'em! 'Eir crushed, or co-oped! Or assimilated! Or whatever! Yeah! :P

That is an extremely ignorant statement, of course there are groups opposed to fundamentalism in Iran

I'm confused about this guy, he's called an Ultra-Conservative and yet his policies include redistributing Iran's oil wealth and I think he wants to help the poor and even women.

Yeah, it's interesting. The other guy was standing on very much a pro-US ticket which in Iranian terms also means pro-market, pro-privitization, neo-liberal agenda.
Therefore, the "conservative" has to sound like some sort of crypt-socialist.
Both of them are theocratic cretins anyway.

the reason why ppl voted for the dude is because he is the only one who promised substantial wealth distribution. Though it might seem odd to some of the people here who know virtually nothing about Islam (i know little...not nothing :P ), reasonable economic equality, and thus the distribution of wealth, is inherent to Islam, and thus to an islamic conservative.
a man regarded as a Prophet in the Quran once said
"it is easier for a camel to crawl through the needle of an eye than for a rich man to get in to heaven"
that prophet was Jesus.

What is your source for this? In the real world Iran has quite a communist movement. Unfortunatly trot, but anti-theocracy nonetheless.
Anyway, this does show what a complete fraud bourgeoisie elections are.

i think the elections are only a fraud in so far as the candidates have to be approved by the guardian council (ya know, them senile old fucks with long beards 'n shit ;) )
the rest of the elections are probably reasonably fair. If it werent CNN would be broadcasting all day on the amount of fraud.
