Cheese
24th June 2005, 19:55
Hello left-wing people around here,

i would like to introduce myself! My name is Joost and i am a 16 year old communist from the Netherlands. I chose my nickname, 'Cheese' because of the stereotyped image you've got about the Netherlands: Dutchmen like 1. cheese and 2. wooden shoes, and frankly that is correct.

When I finished my school, i would like to study something like media.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm from Lancashire in England which sounds like a stereotype of your country - victorian lancastrians used to wear clogs in the mills and we like cheese.

Cheese is where the word Yankee comes from. Dutch settlers would be called John Cheese, and the Dutch would pronounce this as 'Jan Kees' - Yankees.
