Come join the Socialist Party U.S.A. and the Socialist Party of Michigan for an educational weekend on the campus of Western Michigan University. The Conference will include a series of workshops, presentations, and other activities. The Conference is open to the public and FREE. Educate, Agitate, and Organize!
WHEN: October 19 and 20, 2002. 9:00am to 5:00pm.
WHERE: Kalamazoo, Michigan, in the Bernhard Center on the campus of Western Michigan University.
SCHEDULED SPEAKERS:
Mongezi Sefika wa Nkomo -
A South African veteran of the anti-apartheid struggle and international organizer for social and economic justice. Mongezi is the founder and deputy chair of Azania Heritage International and a member of The Black Radical Congress International Caucus. He will be presenting 'From Political Apartheid to Global Apartheid: A Case Study of Class Betrayal in South Africa.' The presentation will focus on the IMF and World Bank's strangle hold on the African economy and link it to corporate welfare in the U.S.
Quinn Brisben -
Former Socialist Party U.S.A. presidential candidate and disability rights activist. Quinn will be discussing his up-coming trip to Iraq and the current anti-war movement.
Eric Chester -
Massachusetts Congressional candidate for the Socialist Party U.S.A. will be holding a session on 'Introducing Marxism.'
Greg Pason -
National Secretary of the Socialist Party U.S.A. and candidate for the New Jersey Senate will be discussing 'unity on the left and socialist alliances.'
