Thirty years ago,a group of young American radicals announced their intention to overthrow the U.S. government.
The Weather Underground Organization, was a US-based, revolutionary organization of communist men and women. In October 1969, the Weathermen organized their first event, when they blew up a statue dedicated to police casualties in the 1886. In 1970, following the police raid that resulted in the death of Black Panther Fred Hampton, the group issued a declaration of war against the United States government, changing its name to the "weather underground organization".
"I don't regret setting bombs against non-human targets. I believe we didn't do enough." Bill Ayers
"Hello, I'm going to read a declaration of a state of war...within the next 14 days we will attack a symbol or institution of American injustice." ~ Bernardine Dohrn
"We didn't set out to make a movie, we set out to make a revolution. Some of us are still trying to make a revolution. The horrors that the Weather Underground movie shows, that impelled us to go underground, brutal war against other countries, and ruthless repression at home, are worse today than they were then." Naomi Jaffe
Watching this movie made me realize how relevant the issues then (War against other nations for profit) are today. I found a copy of this dvd at the local library.
