What does the fist mean to you. The black fist, the red fist, any fist in the air. What does it mean to you when you see it, or when you put your fist in the air.

Post some pictures of some cool fists too.

To me it stands for the struggle for freedom. The tight grip on freedom that we will never lose sight of. To me that fist means the strength of the people when they are united. In the 1968 Olympics, the guy who got the gold medal put his fist up during the national anthem. That was something beautiful. That fist is raised for all the people who have been oppressed under my country's government, all the people who have suffered, and all those who have died. All for the self interest of an elite government.

For me the fist up is symbol of the resistance by the oppressed against the oppressor, like you said"the struggle for freedom".
It's a way to tell to everyone that you want your freedom and you're ready to fight for it.
Like rage against the machine would say:"Fist in the air, in the land of hypocrisy".

i believe that its showing a position of strength. not necessarily the stronger but one who has courage, strength and resolve to fight. physically you are arm is tense and muscle taut (seen as a threatening gesture) just like in a fist fight. i think that its using the small scale fist fight, and implementing it into the bigger picture.

the fist symbolises unity
the 5 fingers come together to form 1 fist, whereas 1 by 1 the fingers can b broken, but a strong fist cannot
