do you think its possible? I've always more or less considered myself as such. And yes i know it may sound weird. However my vision is this: when all the material needs of the people of the world are met, we can, together, start greater and more noble enterprises than simply producing. Like furthering science, not just because of the material profit it has, but because we just want to know all the secrets the world has to offer.

I'm not sure. Materialism is not a thing that many people would allow to take over.

The materialism of Marxism amounts to physicalism- no supernatural phenomenon.

The problem with the term "materialism" is that it has different meanings in different contexts. In some cases, "materialism" is the philosophy wherein all that exists in the universe is material (physicalism). In others, "materialism" is equivalent to "consumerism", where a person cares about getting as much stuff as possible.

Materialism

1. Philosophy: The theory that physical matter is the only reality and that everything, including thought, feeling, mind, and will, can be explained in terms of matter and physical phenomena.

2. The theory or attitude that physical well-being and worldly possessions constitute the greatest good and highest value in life.
