Salary in my opinion is a gimick to get the worker to work for free. They can get more out our you for the same price. This prevents the worker from collecting overtime. An hourly waged worker would not have this problem. Before I address how serious this abusive tactic is remember that just having you stay "working late" is outrageous! Most corporations indicate that "management" are those who are categorized as salaried employees while in reality many salary workers have salaries under 25k. Corporations then proceed to hand out work that is impossible to complete during an 8 hour shift. The worker is then faced with having to "stay late" in order to complete his work and be considered a fairly productive worker. Otherwise he would face troubles seeking a promotion and/or a raise in wage. In my humble opinion I believe workers making less than $100k per year should be paid hourly in order to be freed from corporation's greed and abusive tactics.

The salary itself is offensive. It should be abolished. Period.
As for time-wage ... probably you're right. I remember my bosses increased my working time by 5 hours per week just like that. No salary increase, of course... I doubt they would do that if I was paid hourly.

The porblem is that if we simply change to a 'time-wage', the worker is still wasting his productivity at the request of his superior. The real problem is somewhat different, and that is the amount of time each worker works presently. To produce everything our society NEEDs, some estimate that workers may only need to work for 2-3 hours per day. Of course, producing only what society needs is quite detrimental to any business, and therefore is impossible under capitalism. Yet another reason to oppose the system.

i think your exactly right. i also see no point in salery either. and i also agree that anyones boss would increase a workers work time if thay were being payed by the hour.so i agree in all that workers should be payed by the hour so thay are not cheated out of there hard earned money by a greedy billionaire.

I have a salaried job. I get in to work every day at about 9:30am. I'm supposed to start at 9am, but I get there before my boss so it doesn't matter. I'm not paid hourly, so I don't clock in, so I don't lose any pay for showing up a bit late every day. If I work over 40 hours a week, I actually would get overtime.
As far as wage-slavery goes, I'll take it over the alternative.

Does anyone know what would be the arguement from the right resisting a switch to a mandatory hourly wage and the abolishment of the salary "gimick?"

Taiga had it right on, so I'll just quote him:
The salary itself is offensive. It should be abolished. Period.
But as for the wage system. This is just as offensive, yet very, very, clever. The wage system has allowed capitalism to oppress the working class, while making it seem like it is lawfully and correct, and that they have just as many "freedoms" as others.
In my humble opinion, all price and wages should be abolished. But then again anarchism demands nothing less...

the work unions are full of shit, most hourly jobs , dont pay you when for personall days, holidays etc.
Salary of course abuses you at every possible turn
I think jobs are just too freaking time consuming,
8-10 hour shift are just too long that does not even inculde trasprotation which we have to pay for some ironic funny shit huh, it controls your life, when your making 35k a year you choices are limited living check for check for some money making corp its pretting depressing
We live to Work, somethings got to change
What is pretty hilarious is the fact that more money you make, the more perks you get how freaking ironic,
if your making over 150k your probably getting a company car or a company apartment a compnay cell phone, its just insane.

The capitalist will always pay people the least that they can possibly get away with. I see the point about the salary system, but i think that it is by enlarge irrelevant, because a capitalist would obviously pay someone the least they could get away with epr hour instead. And if you look at the jobs that pay per hour they tend to be the worst jobs, usually low payed service sector jobs.

Comrades, how exactly does the right wing go about blocking an extremely progressive legislation such as a federal minimum wage $12.50? That would have atleast the support of 70% of US citizens? My guess is that they would not even allow it from being voted on by congress, but how do the get away with such things?
