He carried on as normal, and simply made a point of placing it at the end of the days events in his diary ( at least while he was fighting guerrilla war).

Not sure about before that, though.

Why did I think his birthday was either today, or May 14th? Anyone know where the May 14th thing came from?

Che's mother was already pregnant during the wedding. The family wanted to hide that. Such things weren't welcome then. ;)
