Communist Party of Turkey deploys a campaign in Turkey for five Cuban patriots being held in US prisons just because they had tried to defend their country against terrorist acts by Miami based counter-revolutionary gangs who want to restore imperialism-backed Batistian regime in Cuba.
This campaign is a part of the international campaign planned and decided by Communist and Workers' parties in Athens Meeting.
Communist Party of Turkey have prepared two letters; a solidarity message that will be sent to the heroes and a protest message that will be sent to for the US Embassy in Turkey. Below you can read these.
Members of CP of Turkey will use these two letters everywhere, especially during the activities organized for the forthcoming elections in Turkey and inform Turkish and Kurdish people about the heroes and demand their support.
We are sure that the people of Turkey will give support and express their solidarity with Cuban heroes and Communist Party of Cuba; thousands of letters will go to the patriots in the US prisons and thousands will protest USA in Turkey because of this barbaric, hostile and unfair act.

Solidarity Message to the Heroes:
Dear Brothers,
We know it is hard, maybe impossible to understand the feelings of a patriot imprisoned in a hostile state just because of his love and loyalty to the country.
However we will try. Because we trust our common understanding of patriotism and internationalism. Because we also know that to share your feelings is possible only if we perceive the reasons why you were away from your country instead of enjoying pleasant time with your family and beloved ones. Because we all share the same principle that the first duty of any self-respecting person is to his or her country.
A patriot cannot stand by while a brutal, barbarous gang makes plans to attack the country. A patriot accepts any mission, does anything necessary to defend his or her country while boats and planes full of bombs and any kind of weapons are leaving Florida for Cuba. Because, a patriot cannot just watch his or her people being killed.
You, all, just did what a patriot is supposed to do.
So we do understand you.
While we demand free and equal education and health services for our people here in Turkey, we understand why you were in USA defending a country serving free and equal education and health services to all of her citizens.
While we struggle against NATO, European Union, IMF and all such USA lead or supported imperialist organizations and shout for our country's withdrawal from all imperialist foundations and agreements here in Turkey, we understand why you struggled for the continuation of the independence of your country.
While we fight for a country where there is neither exploitation nor parasitic classes here in Turkey, we understand how you stood with honor, courage and pride during the trial, against the hostile and provocative prosecutors supported and manipulated by Miami based counter-revolutionary gangs dreaming about restoring the Batistian regime in Cuba where the utopia of equality and freedom still lives.
Since you have been to USA, you have not defended only your beloved country but also you have fought for the dreams of the humankind and for the bright future of the world where there are no imperialist tyrannies, no ruling classes, no exploitation, no borders, no terrorism, no crimes but just the smiling faces of happy, healthy children.
The message of your struggle is obvious for everyone in the world.
Dear Brothers,
Now it is our turn to carry the flag of your struggle. We promise you that we will do whatever necessary for your return voyage to beloved Cuba, the island of socialism.
Cuba is not alone in her struggle. You are not alone! Your brothers and sisters all over the world have been fighting for your freedom at all costs.
You will complete this mission just as you have started. You will return back to your country with honor, pride and dignity.

Protest Letter to the Embassy
To the US Embassy,
On September 11th, 2001 two planes hit into twin towers in New York causing thousands of innocent people's death. After the horrific attack of September 11, the US authorities deployed a campaign focusing on the rhetoric "war against terrorism" which, at the first instance, nobody can easily interrogate the rightfulness of the phrase.
However as the campaign progressed and USA started to "fight against terrorism", the acts of US authorities revealed their genuine stance towards terrorism and the utter hypocrisy of the campaign deployed: The terrorism is indeed terrorism only if it is against USA, not any other country nor any people.
The case of five Cuban patriots, still being held in the prisons of USA, who are arrested in Miami while they were trying to inform Cuban authorities about the terrorist activities of Cuban-American counter-revolutionary gang based in Miami and to save the lives of innocent Cubans is just a simple reflection of this hypocrisy.
After numerous violations of procedure during the court sessions that even further vitiated a trial that was rigged and nullified from the very outset, Gerardo Hernandez was sentenced to two life terms and 15 years, Ramon Labanino to a life imprisonment and 18 years, Antonio Guerrero to a life imprisonment and 10 years, Fernando Gonzales to 19 years and Rene Gonzales to 15 years. There are so many questions that should be asked about the court process exceeding the limits of this short letter. But the most important fact about this trial is that it is a completely political one against the revolutionary government in Cuba and their principles.
At the end of the five months of courtroom battle, in the most difficult and hostile conditions imaginable, the innocence of Gerardo, Ramon, Fernando, Rene and Antonio and the guilt of their accusers had been made abundantly clear by the help of the great efforts of defendants who preferred to use this trial to reveal the terrorist activities against Cuba within the borders of USA and who are responsible of these cowardly acts.
The five patriots had carried out no espionage activity whatsoever. They had neither obtained nor sought any information related to the national security of the United States. They had done nothing to cause any damage to that country or its citizens. Not a single piece of evidence had been put forward, nor had a single witness had uphold the charges.
So the question is that why these heroes have been sentenced to such unfair punishments.
Is it because of the fact that they truly did fight against terrorism, even at the cost of their lives? We know that during the trial they never denied their fight against terrorism.
Or is it because of the fact that they love their country and they believe in the leadership of Republic of Socialist Cuba and the socialism? We also know that they never denied their loyalty to their country and socialist principles in US courts even expressing that their only regret was that they have but one life to give for their country.
However those are the real reasons behind these unfair sentences! They have being punished because of the principles that every human should stick to and fight for.
I strongly protest the act of holding those five patriots done nothing but fought against terrorism in the prisons just because of their beliefs and loyalty to their beloved country!
I condemn the hypocrisy of US regime, which has been revealed one for time because of this case!
Five Cuban patriots brought a message of struggle, of hope and of victory to the humankind should be set free immediately!
