I'm sorry, i know i said i left, but you need to see this!
Glamgirlh: i went to the mall yesterday and i didnt want anything...i went in AE and just didnt want anything...and then my parents bought me some shoes and i felt bad...and duh i never used to feel bad, my mom could spend like $500 dollars on my clothes and i'd never feel bad at all. and now i do.. and i dont want anything and i dont know why...

A victory for Che lives against materialistic culture, methinks.

That's the greatest feeling, when that happens. Walking amongst the shops and feeling indifference at first, then repulsed by it. I find when I'm food shopping that I'll look at all sorts of irrelevant products and my mind automatically asks itself, "Do I need this?" ... the answer is always No. Freeing.

Or something like that

I agree. Not having material desire in control of your life is wonderful. The feeling of freedom can't be matched.

I think drake meant converted her away from the ways of materialism...i doubt she is quite that leftist quite yet, but it is still a big step towards making her join the cause.

Okay the term 'converting' is a little scary to see, I reserve that word for new christians and other godly matter. Maybe it is just me, (me who grew up mormon)

It is a victory for a person to learn to no longer want that which corporations, marketing, marketing groups, commercials, billboards, poster ads, selective marketing, tv, radio and internet comericals, peers, parents, society, role models, the rich and the capitalist want you to want.

What a freaking long sentence - right on also for run on sentences!

We converted her to become an ancient latin teacher. You wouldn't expect it at che-lives.com but sometimes things just don't work out the way you expect. :)

Fine, Fine.. We didn't 'convert her'... We de-indoctrinated 'her'! (Now I sound like I run a re-education camp!)

My mum thinks clothes are important, right clothes for right occasions, well fuck her on that point (I do love her, but she is such a pain up the arse).

Well done Lefty, i'm really plesed. The only material possesions I care about are my guitar and amp, and my cd's and cd player.

Food is also important in a way, Angie, I try to buy organic as much as possible, unlike everyone else at my school who is happy to fill themselves with MacDonald's and Pot Noodles.

Hehehe That does sound very re-education campesqu.
How about this, everybody help educate her in the inherent flaws with consumerism?

Well I like it anyways.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd like to take credit for telling her about the little children who stitched up her Nike shoes real well for her at $.15 an hour in a steaming hot South American sweatshop, and such.

But seriously, $500 worth of clothes? Jesus fucking Christ! I don't think my whole closet is worth that much.
