Jessica Lange: It makes me feel ashamed to come from the United States it is humiliating.
JESSICA LANGE
Oct. 1 Add Jessica Lange to the growing list of celebs speaking out against George W. Bushs policies. The star of Tootsie receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at the San Sebastian film festival in Madrid, Spain declared that she hates the U.S. president and said his call for an attack on Iraq is unconstitutional, immoral and illegal.
I HATE BUSH. I despise him and his entire administration not only because of its international policy, but also the national, Lange told the audience, according to various reports coming from Spain.
It makes me feel ashamed to come from the United States it is humiliating.
Bush stole the elections and since then we have all been suffering the consequences, Lange told the enthusiastic crowd.
Although Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg have recently spoken out in support of Bushs proposed attack on Iraq, Lange joins a growing list of stars who have questioned or condemned it, including Barbra Streisand, Susan Sarandon and Alec Baldwin. Langes spokeswoman had no further comment.

She's a millionaire, she couldn't give 2 shits about who the president is or the condition of the world. She, along with most Hollwood Burgouesie elites, know that people like those who post here, love to here those kinds of words. So they say things like that in hopes of boosting their popularity among people like us, so that that we will see their movies or buy their albums.
Fuck her and fuck Hollywood. Why don't you ask her or Barbara Streisand how much of their clothing is made in sweat shops populated by the slaves of despots.
You think Republicans or conservatives are bad, but at least you know where they stand, they're not hypocrites to their ideology. The Hollywood "liberals" are worse, they tell you what you want to hear, for their own personal gain. Their hearts do not go out to those around the world in need of help, those self-centered bastards only care about 2 things: their image and their money. FUCK THEM

Oh, yeah she sure does look concerned about the plight of mankind.
I can just see her enjoying the applause she got
"the enthusiastic crowd" will probably go rent her movies at blockbuster in support.

She is very lucky to live in a country that allows her to speak out against it. But does she think she is creating any kind of unity with the French or Other Americans? What was the basis of that statement other than she 'emotionally' didn't like Bush. Come on Jessica! If you are going to use your albiet small and diminishing career for politics have a little more backbone! Start a group, get backing, SOMETHING! What do you really stand for? And don't tell me you 'like' Jerry Lewis. Kiss ass!

We never know, her comments might come to something, slowly and gradually. She did say it to an audience of a film festival, and a scattering of other stars have plucked up some courage before her - with any luck, some more will follow the path she's chosen to take. I thank her for the comments - they're another feather in the collective cap of "our side" (all opposing Bush & Co.)
Remember the movie "Pay It Forward"? If the crowd really was enthusiastic towards her words, they're going to take them away and tell them to people that they know. Each of those people will do the same with even more people. It's a rock dropped in water - the ripples have already begun.

I agree with Kick.....his statement rings very true.....
though on the other hand, the blind masses totally look up to these Hollywood elite, and really take what they say to heart (sad as that is) It is good that a few are speaking out in opposition to Bush, his regime and war.....
just have to add....I CANT STAND Barbra Streisand!!! (there....rant over) haha

i am also with kickmccann, its easy for her to say such things, then go home to her mansion. when the doorbell rings, Wigglesworth will answer the door her, so she doesnt interrupt her UV tanning session. glad that she has an opinion, but why doesn't she and alec baldwin etc use their influence to actually DO something!

I find it funny how ignorant and immature some comments are at times...granted I don't agree with the Bush admin. or his policies either...but the man is smarter, and much more intellectual than you may think.
Have some sense sir...

You know what, I thought the same thing, that he is a lot smarter than he plays off. I thought that for a long time because of that saying, "Never underestimate your enemy." and I didn't want to make that mistake.
Sorry but this man is not intelligent, in fact I truly doubt that he would break an IQ of 100. Just by listening to him, you can tell he is not intelligent. Have you ever spoken to an intelligent person, they sound nothing like him, and this is a person who was raised and surrounded in a blue blood, educated society. They don't speak like that in those circles.
He is not very smart, but those telling this idiot what to do are. I doubt he even understands 1/5th of what he is doing as President.

I couldn't agree more EjercitoFidelista, I can't stand the people who whine and talk negatively, but do nothing at all to change the corrupt domestic and foreign policies. I live in Canada, and attended Scott Ritter's lecture when he made his visit to Victoria, BC. He gave us leaflets to hand out, and I am still distributing them. I have volunteered for an Independant Media organization, which rejects the biases voiced in average newspapers, and represents leftist views.
Don't stand idly by while something you condemn goes on before your eyes. Fight it.

I also do hate the United States president George Bush. I think he is an imperalist bastard trying to fuck up everything. I think that if you want to fight the US imperalism you get bombed by the country. First yugoslavia and now Iraq. With his stupid ideas on war on terrorism he is just fighting terrorism with terrorism.

"say that again? are you implying that leftists are unbiased? "
Sure, we are biased. But since all current "publications" are biased towards the right, being biased towards the left only equals it out.

yeah ok, we should fight back.
but think about it....really think.
what can we do?
you can protest, and parade around the streets, what'll that bring.....bruises, and being called a minority, who nobody really listens to.
except for the ones with you.
or you could just be a hypocrite and asasinate the wanker.
no, you know what.....i've tried almost everything.
Now you put forward a suggestion.
WHAT DO WE DO????

attica, dont ever think your efforts for a better world dont change a thing... Im sure all what you may have done in that sense got already positive consequences, even if you are not aware of them.
We just need to be more people fighting in the same direction, each one with his own kind of weapons.
