Ok, I am about to make a film with some of my friends and I need some help. First I'm getting a DV Camera to edit in my Mac, but I would like some suggestions on a DV Camera. It can't be too much higher that $1,000 but needs to be good for movies, not just recording the family reunions. So anyone know a good, but on the cheaper side, movie DV camera?

Thank you in advance.

I have a HandyCam, they are alright, but nothing exceptional. I also have a Mac, and if you do get a handycam you'll need to download DropDV for your computer. Stick with the mac though, iMovie is such a great feature.

I've been working on several movies myself for the past year and have played around with several DV Cams... I'd say that the SONY Handy Cam is the best value for a cam under $1000.

I purchased a JVC, wich is decent, but I like the SONY better, plus the SONY batteries are easy to find, while JVC aren't.

Some other things I'd recomend getting are an external mic, extra batteries, a tripod, a wide angle lense and a telaphoto lense.

Oh, also the mac is much better to use for video editing than the PC. The best video editing program out there (what the profesionals use) is called "Final Cut"... it's for the Mac.

I once made a low-level budget movie (LINK HERE (http://www.bosattondskap.tk) - here in Scandinavia we call it "dogmatic", atleast) but I need to know more information about what sort of movie ye're pissin' at to make, to better...consult you with advice. Since the camera's that fit vary from movie to movie. Oh, and by the way, jus'cuz I'm curious, does it have rather vague pro-Communistic mentions? ;)

I think you can get a trial version for free, then if it is good you can buy it, it's like 4o bucks but then it's yours forever.
