I see this forum's leader is Red Zeppelin. I was always under the impression they were Liberal capitalists. They had a private Jet, and not very many political songs. Are they leftist?

not to my knowledge

I think you are right, they are probably liberal capitalists, but when speaking of music, unless the band is political, I won't judge them on their politics, unless of course they are fascists.

Yeah, i don't think they cared about politics. But i agree with codyvo. It doesn't matter what political ideology a band has as long as they don't express it in their lyrics.

I don't know that anyone can prove they were "liberal captialists", they certainly weren't overtly political to any degree. They did, however, RULE!

Who cares what political stance they were?? The music they produced in their time was absolutely outstanding. Not many bands nowadays can compete with good old rock from back in the days. Now most music involves screaming, distortion and nothing calm and collecting.

I guess you haven't lisened to any chillis, sublime or pearl jam latly ryan. They sound prity calm and collected to me. And led Zep did scream and use distorsion.

I find sublime very calm indeed as I have there greatest hits. Please do not proceed to start an arguement with me. A large percentage of Led Zeppelins music was calm and collected.

LOL, what's wrong with screaming vocals and not-so-calm music? Are you saying that quality music has to be calm? And i have the greatest hits as well and I prefer the harder songs in which Robert screamed a little bit.(Rock n roll, Black Dog, Heartbreaker,)But of course who doesnt like Stairway to Heaven..?

Led Zeppelin had screaming and distortion.

They probably didn't give a fuck about politics. Had they been leftists, I would probably cum every time I heard them. That's how good it would be.

I like fast music too, but you can't possibly believe that every slow (ish) song is boring, celtopunk.

Speaking of which... you bastard, you finally got me to listen to punk!

I haven't acquired much punk yet, because I also really got into proto-punk and new wave and began actually buying new music for a change.

I did get a DK album, a couple of Clash albums, a Bad Religion album, a Pere Ubu album, some Television albums, NY Dolls, Stooges, acquired a new appreciation for the VU, got some Dropkick Murphys (which I don't like that much), Flogging Molly, The Pogues (frikkin amazing), and I think that's about it.

No I like plenty of slow music, just that one song REALLY has been played to death, it has become a rock n roll cliche.

The fact that you are now listening to some punk is obviously a sign of your advanced intelligence. I agree about the Dropkick Murphys. They were much better when Mike M. was their singer and they weren't trying (poorly) to emulate the Pogues. Plus how much can you really sing about Boston. I'm not too much of a Flogging Molly fan, I don't like Dave King's voice, I do like the fiddle player though.

That's fair enough.

Yeah...
I got Do or Die, which has some cool lyrics, but not so good.

Flogging Molly is a lot better, IMO. Their guitarist is very good. The singer isn't so great, but I've heard much worst. They put on a good show.

Bad Religion is catchy. I'd say it's kinda a guilty pleasure, though. Most of the songs' melodies seem artificial. There is little variation between songs aside from the tunes. Good lyrics, though.

All the others I've mentioned are awesome.

I actually also bought a single at the local pinko bookstore for a dollar by a New York band called Dementia Thirteen. I dunno if you're familiar with them. They're not bad for a dollar. Lame lyrics and crummy singer, but not bad aside from that.

Hey, I want 2 albums of Bad Religion and London Calling and some gothic rock(Christian death etc) but hell, I'm broke!I want more than 20 cd's so I need to find a part-time job to afford them!

No, slow songs arent boring, they just create other feelings when you listen to them.
