Hello,
I am sorry to interrupt. My spanish is not that great.
Me llamo Choekiewoekie. Tengo 24 anos y vivo en Hollanda (the netherlands).
For my study i have to wright a paper about the use of computers and internet of a (not European) country compared to the situation here. Since i am going to Cuba this summer i would like to wright my paper (thesis) about Cuba.
Before i go i would like to talk to someone who is familiar with the sitatuation on highschools on Cuba. Is that possible?
Anybody who could help me?

I have got questions about the use of computers on a highschool.

Thank you very much.

Comrade Choekie

Very few comrades here have been to Cuba and none of us are from Cuba.
I in fact tried to search for your requested information in googles, but I didn't got anything useful from it.

Hope other comrades can help you out. :)

There's a thread somewhere on Cuba changing computers to Linux....

I'd been to Cuba. All I know is that all the Cuban teachers quit their jobs to become bartenders and tour guides.

People are desperately in need of pens and pencils. I gave out 3 of my pens to high school students. They told me they can't go to school without a pen...And that's in Havana...

In the 90s Cuban had to rely on VIETNAM to donate paper and pencils...(fer crying out loud. U know something's not right when u have to rely on Vietnam for donamtions)

Cubans are very thankful towards Vietnam for that. Once I walked on the street and saw a book store called (Hanoi Book Store)

May partly answer your question, or a related one:

I posted some facts about the internet in Cuba in this thread. (http://www.revolutionaryleft.com/index.php?showtopic=35695&st=40) I gave links to sources you can possibly find more at. It's my post of May 27 2005, 02:16 AM.

If you are planning to visit Cuba, a good place to start may be:
Universidad de la Habana,
Facultad de Matematica y Computacion

Maybe they could help you with your paper.

Good Luck!! :)

I would advise you to leave the citites and look at high schools in the less urban areas for your paper, seeing that the majority of people don't just live in Havana.

I know. I'd like to the next time I go there.

But Havana does have 1/4 of the whole Cuban population.
