Ok, im posting this because we discussed it in class today?
Are you for or against regional devolution and to what extent?
Do you think places like Scotland and Wales should seek complete independance, be ruled by Westminster or have a local parliament to make some descisions?

I`m for total devolution. But I dont want hundreds of little states which tax their people for hundreds of little armies. In my opinion nearly all decisions should be taken on a local level (town or village). The role of the central governemnet should just be to harmonize a devolved local communist system.

I'd tend to agree with Luxemburgist ideas myself also.

No! They may get the crazy idea of independence!
(that was actually in the txt book believe it or not!)
I support the UK being split into regions (communes ;)), devolution in that sense. With white hall being the over all admin body, where each area elects a council that will represent the home county/region in white hall (sounds like the early USSR doesn't it)

Id still prefer a wider European alliance with maybe individual regions having some power to govern themselves but still under a single European goverment

Unity. No independence. All communist states are united as one. Unity is the most important thing. This is one of my reasons for wanting religion banned in the past. It makes unity far more easy.

Independance. all decisions made on a local level. Not by some guy with lots of money in London, who probably hasnt even been up here

If the people want independence, and its fairly obvious they do, then they should get it.

They have tried.
Unfortunately though, the British still see themselves as being an imperial power, a very dangerous illusion.
