I don't have a high opinion of Anti Flag. I think they have a very noble idea and have a few very good songs but also produce a lot of pap.

I really like the way this song sounds and this is the first time I've looked up the lyrics which I will post just so recognise it and the flow:

ANTI-FLAG LYRICS

"Underground Network"

The national media cover Clinton/Lewinsky
While the world's governments sell out millions on the issue of free trade
But somewhere in the night -- A force is not asleep
And a massive organization plans to rise up to its feet...
It happens like this...

A pirate radio voice transmits into the night
And from D.C. to Peking email warns of lost global rights
And the hoax the world's leaders, wanted no one to see
Comes crashing on their heads from grass roots
Striking it down the blows coming for the world's...

Beat down! Brainwashed! Enslaved!
Cause of our...
Underground Network - Alternative Communication
They try to blind us but we... Stand up and fight! Stand up and fight!
They try to keep us ignorant but we... Stand up and fight! Stand up and fight!
They want to take our rights away so... Stand up and Fight! Stand up and fight!
Stand up and Fight! FIGHT!

[Spoken:]
Just take a look around the world
and you’ll find that nearly all mass media
are owned and controlled by a handful of conservative capitalists.
We must devise and implement alternative methods of distributing our news,
our information, our ideas -- people united worldwide to take a stand,
to tell the truth!

*note I am not saying anything about what I think of the lyrics as that would make this concersation very boring for me as they are a band I'm not hugely in to but I do very much like the sound of the song.

But yes they are good lyrics and I agree but to analyse would be dull. The sound is the most important thing for me that's where the true idea and the emotion is expressed.

Yes, I like them, they have good ideas, but unfortunatly they are greens, mearly reformists. We need revolutionaries.

Thats the worst part about political bands. Most kids don't know what the F*** is up.

They sound good sometimes.

Other times its cut-and-paste punk rock. Kind of dissapointing that it isn't super-crazy since they are lefties.

Where have all the left bands gone?

RASH chris

Anti-flag is neither underground, nor good. The lyrics aren't that intelligent, the music isn't that exciting, and thier politics are hardly revolutionary. And now they've signed to RCA, which is just absurd.

One of my favourite bands is anti-flag. I'm really disappointed in the direction they're in now... I mean going on the Warped tour and all...
I have anti-flag to thank for me jumping on the socialist bandwagon. They introduced me to the "underground" (not so underground anymore) and it showed me I wasnt the only one around with these ideas. Sure, they are signed to a major label, but they're still on our side and sing some wicked songs. (911 for peace, the consumer song, operation iraqi liberation and my favourite, one people, one struggle.

Too bad they're bringing up so many posers.

yea totaly, too maney people folowing them with no idea they are even leftist,

I'm really disappointed in the direction they're in now... I mean going on the Warped tour and all...but what is wrong with the warped tour?! awsome music, kinda full of poser punks but what's that wrong with it?

yeah they sold out. has anyone been to one of their shows recently. its a bunch of teeny's with their lyrics written on white t-shirts. if you want good leftist punk bands check out, conflict(anarchist), anti-product, crass(anarchist), a//political, behind enemy lines, aus rotten, etc. all of these bands (some of them are broken up) are underground. crass had a top 10 hit but hand packed their records, they never signed to a major label. they are all on either self made or underground labels.

but what is wrong with the warped tour?!

Hahahaha. Nothing, if you like crappy pop punk and emo. But personally, I prefer music with depth and meaning. And I'd also prefer if punk rock wasn't sponsored by multi-national corporations.

In addition to what nate said also check out Flux of Pink Indians, discharge, and defiance.

There are many better bands out there, and they are now on a big corpoate label, therefore sell outs, Rage was good, but thier later stuff wasn't as good, got more to be experimental, I liked the first few cds, Crass was a great band(not the sound the lyrics) Conflict is one of the all time best bands out there (lyriclly and musicly) Aus Rotten is much better than Anti and from the same exact area as them, they are not underground, thier first cd yes, I do like, their 2nd cd, not so bad, after that downhill

lets see, youve got anti flag on one end of the parking lot cursing the military and government, then on the other end you have a marines recruting booth with a huge line. do you see something wrong with that? and also because punk rock used to be about diy, yet the warped tour plays at places that charge 6 dollars for a bottle of water and take the cap so youll spill it and buy more. if they want to be revolutionary it should be all diy and free. they should provide workshops along with the music, flyers, phamplets on how to creat community, leftists ideals. free vegan food, etc.
