It scares me to think of what right-wing capitalist/fascist nations might use this technology for!

Well I support the advances of science and technology, but I do think that this may be used or should I say misused by the government to do I don't even know what. Luckily they haven't made any chips to make us do the things they want us to do, yet.

I think they are only using it to help people who have become paralyzed. It's not like they are actually monitoring his thoughts. The only thoughts the chip understands is stuff like TV ON and TV OFF.

It's reading his thoughts, not controlling them.

No doubt if america gets the technology they'll abuse it and kill anyone who is a threat to imperialism.

This sort of technology could come in very useful for people who suffer brain damage - chips and microcircuits would replace any broken neural links in the brain.

It could also considerably ease up human/machine interface, so instead of having to type a command or click on an icon, you could just think about it.

This technology is primarily being used to helped paralyzed individuals. For example, the most advanced model I've seen is a bedridden patient without even the ability to talk can control movements of a mouse on a computer with his brain. The technology is expensive and bulky. It can only read, and not control, thoughts.

"Right-wingers" implanting some sort of mind control chip and then being able to read your mind...pfff. Reactionary bull. The mind is the most complex of all human organs, and therefore it's likely impossible or far off in the future.

It is the question of responsibility.

With the immense amount of knowledge we can easily lose responsibility of the amount of knowledge we have.

Nuclear weapons, brain reading chips, etc.

The strongest and fastest computer known to man is still an eigth the power of the human brain.

What happens when the computers overtake the brain? What happens when we cannot, ourselves, be responsible for what our technology has done? What do we do when the computers themselves become sentient?

Hahahahaha... impossible... right?

probably the medical advance of the decade but we should limit it now to medical use only no military or judicial applications permitted period.

oh no they're implanting electronic devices into our minds so they can help the unfortunate to control their own lives

this is the end oh god oh god oh god :(
