For those of you wondering about how to counteract the noxious effects of George W. Bush's speech to the UN, I highly recommend this document (http://www.neravt.com/left/war/madre1.html), which exposes the lies of Bush one by one.

We must act now to prevent war.

The facts are on our side. The law and morality are on our side. The world at large is on our side.

When the Bush junta attacks, you goddamn well better have the facts at your fingertips. You know CNN will.

Hee! Good show, Ian Rocks. When the time comes, and everyone sees it coming, it won't be enough to come here and complain that killing Iraqi civilians is wrong.

We will need facts. We will need references. We will need to be the CNN/MSNBC/FOXNews of the Left. Each one of us, individually, will have to know these things.

It's all available to us right now.

We will have NO excuse for being uninformed, misinformed or disinformed. No excuse for NOT being able to respond to the warmongers.

Things might change if for once, for ONCE, a disciplined, confident and well-informed Left stood up, all across the world, and had a unified message: This war is wrong.

It begins with us. Each one of us must take that responsibility and initiative. We ARE the change we want to see in the world.

I agree vox, we have NO excuse for not being informed, we have such information available to us, that's the beauty of the internet, we must not become arrogant and believe ourselves to be satisfactorily informed about the current situation, trust me, you aren't ever informed enough, I have been complacent too much.

Please, comrades, distribute this throughout you work, amongst friends, amongst school mates, help your Iraqi brothers! Also If you find some information let all your comrades here at che-lives know we need all the help we can get to counter all the yankee dogma.

Thanks

Regardless of your feelings towards President Saddam Hussein, it's worth your time to read (or skim, considering it's length) the following letter that he presented to the United Nations after Bush's General Assembly speech.

Frankly, it's rather amazing...
Letter to UN and international community. (http://www.arabicnews.com/ansub/Daily/Day/020921/2002092124.html)
(dated Sept 21, 2002.)

Thanks for the article, Angie.

It is completely unconscionable that the US government has killed 2+ million Iraqis over Oil. OIL!!!! It is just unfathomable really. Worse, there is no way to stop him. The people of the US that he is accountable to are just coming through as muted whispers in the face of the bearaucratic agencies and procedures one must go through to prevent such atrocities. And even THEY do not act within their power to do so. We can protest against it. But that does not guarantee they aren't going to do it covertly as they have done for the last 4 years. It is a pathetic situation we find ourselves in. The Iraqi people should be evacuated out of that country by the UN as they would -and have done to other countries such as Afghanastan. It is nothing less than Government sponsored terrorist. A genocide of the innocent Iraqi people.
