Check this video out. Click where it says "Reggaeton Latino." It's a nice little video.

Check out Tego Calderon for some real reggaeton...Don Omar is better than some of the other shit that is popular these days, but it gets a lot better than that.

I used to like it years ago when it was unknown, being a leftist though...once something gets popular, I immediately hate it. I don't really like it, and they all sound the same! My best friend loves it...so does my nephew who's 18 months...he dances and sings along to it...I'll never escape it..

Why would you hope that? I just don't like what is mainstream...I don't let the media tell me what I should like or not. I have to have a real passion for something, to continue liking it eventhough its on Mtv or the radio or some shit...

Is there another link for this? It doesn't work. I am dying to hear it!

yeah, I know what you mean, EneME, something can get played out very quick when it becomes mainstream. I tend to be the same way about things.

I like a couple of Reggaeton things but ultimitley it's Jamaican music mixed with Latin sensibilities and can end sometimes being neither.

Does anyone else see the irony here?

Umm No RZ, can you break it down?

Reggaeton is pretty bad. I don't hear enough of it. The one song I do hear played over and over again is the gasolina song. I was Mex this weekend and that was like the theme song. Even my little cousins were singing it! Aww sick aww.

It's just a lazy way of labelling a bunch of music, I dig this track "Mas Papaya" by Sidestepper. Reggaeton is a fad, if I want Ragga, I go Jamaican, if I want rumba or Son/salsa or Cumbia - I go Latino. Forget about it.

She says she won't allow the media to dictate her tastes, while her tastes actually are dictated by what the media fails to endorse.

Meaning that by liking only the things which are not hyped by the media, her tastes still depend upon the media's attitude towards it.

Okay, I kind of see what you are saying...that either way the media is dictating what I like or do not like? That's why i said "I have to have a real passion for something, to continue liking it eventhough its on Mtv or the radio or some shit" meaning.... I will continue liking some music in spite of their popularity and main stream audience. I really don't like it when something becomes "mainstream" because I don't want to be associated with those who just jump on bandwagons and ignore the real artistry in music, and that's why I purposely shield myself from popular media, by not watching TV much, not having cable (no Mtv etc.), and the last time I really listened to the radio was YEARS ago, so that I can have an unbiased approach.

Mainstream has a tendency to shove something down your throat over and over again.

It's wrecked a many great songs, unfortunately.

Hey RAWV, do you have another link to the video or a clip of that music? my speakers are working again for now.

Perreo is an erotic dance if you put it nicely.,.. Often its one girl in front rubbing her ass to your groin and then u have a girl behind u rubbing herself against you.. I cant dance it but I bought a pirate dvd in Peru with perreo... Looks fun if you fancy that kind of stuff.. Like lambada on speed.... :) lol

Reggaeton is allright. Its hot at to dance to, but I dont think it really has much on Jamaican reggae because the beat is always the same.

Its so damn catchy though....

For weeks everyone walks around singing "me gusta la gasolina...."

Damn, if you got something to say- put it in reggaeton!
