theres been a fair bit of controversy surrounding australia and the US not sign the KP. could someone explain why the hell not.
I believe that Australia isn't signing because of the huge amonts of energy exported to Europe and the new 25 billion dollar gas deal with China.
Am i way off, or are these countries not signing because of their economies, not for the betterment of our planet?
thanx for any help you can give,

Well, the Bush Regime doesn't care about this earth. It's the business, corporations - money.
Next time post only once.

The us government think that this protocol would penalize american industry.
But in fact there is a lot of governments in the world who don't give a shit about environment but they don't say it as openly as the us government.

I was flicking through yesterday's Guardian and I saw a headline that read 'Australia wakes up to Kyoto'. I didn't get the chance to read the article, but maybe the Australians are preparing to sign up.

The reason bush doesn't sign the protocol is to make sure he can drill for oil in protected areas so the us won't have to export oil fron arab countrys. And that would make It easyer to bomb Irak or other arab states.

if you take what Bush says in his conferences as truth (which cant be held as truth for the most part), then the US refuses to sign it because it would hurt our economy. yup, nothing about the environment. i have seen a few times in which he said this.
