Its weird whats happening in my country , really weird . many of the Lebanese opposits where against the Syrian presence in Lebanon and held many demo's against its presence "the hugest one ever in the history of lebanon , 2.000.000 person-Leb general capacity is:3,500.000" , seem now satisfied with the US,French plan to take control on the political issues in Lebanon.
These opposits who helped Israel in a time when the was massacres in Lebanon , and tried to stop the Lebanese resistance in a time , are now trying to get their last shot of the gun , by accepting the shown inteference of the US,French governments in the Lebanese interiour affairs.

Welcome to the board and all that. Are you living in Lebanon currently?
So, what kinds of interference are we talking about?
The imperialist demand for the dissolution of Hezbollah's militia, also known as the Lebanese national resitance, is one, right?
Is this another? (http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,1280,-4969388,00.html) The US/UN demanding that Lebanese government officials be fired?
Any other information you've got about recent events in Lebanon would be appreciated, I'm sure.

Here's a thread (http://www.revolutionaryleft.com/index.php?showtopic=34699&hl=) where another Lebanese poster made some comments about the situation there, and the confessional, religion-based political system, a month back.
Would you care to comment on those issues?

I often get confused...Does the majority of LEbanese people want Syria out or not? A Lebanese guy told me Syria helped Lebanon but then i see those massive demonstrations against Syria in Lebanon...

There were massive demonstrations in support of Syria as well.

The country's profoundly divided. Like a lot of countries.
But probably most Lebanese wanted Syria to go.
Hezbollah organized massive rallies - probably the ones Intifada is referring to - under slogans like "Thank you Syria" and opposing US/French interference. But even they didn't actually call for Syria to stay.
It should be pointed out Syria originally went into Lebanon to support the reactionary side of the civil war, the Phalangists, and oppose the more progressive, nationalist side, which was supported by the PLO. So the U.S. and Israel accepted Syria's action. Syria was complicit in massacres of Palestinians refugees during its long presence in Lebanon.
The shift in U.S. and Israeli policy, to opposing Syrian troops in Lebanon, is IMO part of a worldwide shift in U.S. strategy - from seeking "stability" to seeking "freedom." What they call stability and freedom. In the past, they saw Syria as stabilizing Lebanon but they no longer care.
See Bush's recent comments on the Yalta agreement for one explanation of this new U.S. approach to world politics.

comrade , all whatr uve said is right , but dont forget that syria untill now hold more than 2500 Lebanese prisoner and not accepting to confess that they are in syria + syria's economical growth was build after syria was in Lebanon and its control on the Lebanese ministries , gave Syria a chance to grow larger economicly.
Syria made Lebanon to rent POWER from syria "even that we have the abilities to do waterelectrical factories" for 1,500,000US$ a year .
Syria made Lebanon to give the syrian Gov . 25% a year from the national incom.
Syria braught to Lebanon 500,000 Employee to work on lebanese soils without any legale papers wich caused a lot of unemployed Lebanese people sitting at home.
IF you read the history of the Syrian presence in Lebanon , you could see that syria didnt help at all , not even in what they call "helping in the resistance".
one notice my comrades , hizbollah is known as the islamic resistance , and the Lebanese National Resistance Front was the official resistance of the Lebanese Communist Party.
http://www.geocities.com/comlb/jamoullogo.jpg
that was the lebanese national resistance front's logo.

Really? Then what about the other 2.500.000? Are they for Syria's forces to stay in Lebanon or WHUT, are they apolitical perhaps? Hm? No? I see this is more about social single-issue reasons than perhaps following a whole ideology, both fascists and communists (!) are probably both on side against the Syria occupation, no, I presume? ;)

well comrade the problem in lebanon is something called " religious demand " its kind of a lie made by religion men wich give them the power to ask people not to do a thing and they are forced not 2 , other they will go to hell! a funny idea made by funny people in a funny world.
in Lebanon there is about 1,000,000 person that supports hizbollah , and as hizbollah is a religious party , then there was a call of " religious demand " to noty participate in any Anti-Syria demo .

Is there a pro-Syrian political party? How are relations between the two governments? Still pretty cold i'd imagine. If the U.S. were to take military action against Syria and Hezbollah, I imagine The Lebanese would help defend Syria.
Well I hope the Lebanese finally get sufficient control over their own gov't.

I didn't know that, or some of the other things. Thanks.

I know that some of the anti-Syrian anger has been directed at Syrian workers in Lebanon, and I think that's wrong. Especially from Lebanese...how many Lebanese have gone to the U.S., or European countries, maybe the Gulf states - and maybe got blamed by some people in those countries for unemployment!
Syria's a poorer country than Lebanon, of course workers from there will go to Lebanon seeking work.
It's the bosses and their system that are to blame for unemployment, and competition among workers for jobs...we need to unite all workers, and fight for measures that will provide employment for all workers....
