View Full Version : Armenian Genocide
Why does/did the Ottoman Empire deny the Genocide?
I know plenty about the Genocide but not much about the Ottoman Empire so I was searching them and there are still some who deny it? WTH? All of the rest of the world acknowledge it as a Genocide, why don't they?

Armenian genocide was commited after the "Young-Turk" revolution, in '21-'22 i think, so there was no Ottoman Empire than, but burgoise Turkey. That's the whole point of the genocide - Turkish national 'revolution'

The Turkish government might have to acknowledge it in order to gain membership into the EU. Why won't the US acknowledge it's genocide of the Indians?

Nobody wants the responsibility of a genocide on their hands.

Probably admitting it would run counter to Turkish nationalist mythology which is a big part of the basis of the regime. Similar to how they've had so much trouble admitting that there are such people as Kurds, not just "mountain Turks."
