I have this class in highschool, Civics and my teacher is teaching us about governments and stuff, this is in canada by the way...

When he talks about Communisim or Authoritarian government all he dose is bash on it.....

for example" in communism the dictator dosent want you to know anything out side your country" "he keeps you so stupid you dont know up from down" "you live in fear" "you have no right" "everyone is poor except government people"

I think this is total bull crap and I feel like im getting brain washed for 90 minutes everyday....

I have lived in a communist country and the life was awsome unexplainable..
I had a house in Bijela on the ocean right on the beach when I was a baby my own house was already being built for me, my family had security and everyone was happy. The yugoslav visa was valued by the whole world at the time and we would spend 3-4 months in greece on vacation.... this is practically impossible in Canada where you can go on vacation for 2 weeks max....

but this bull crap on bashing on communism.... They just think it's bad because thats what they were brought up to think...

I was wondering should I say anything during class... or would that be stupid

And I who thought Canada was far from the mind-numbin' propaganda of the U.S......seems as far as I am... was wrong, atleast according to your ear-witness! Bah! It's everywhere now, no-one is outside of it's influence...the Imperialism's influence on corrupting...teaching teachers to be corrupt and biased, schniveling fools! Can't seperate practice from theory, and just "forgets" it in favor of more properly and effectively bashin' it! BAH!

You should leave class in protest to listening to that crap, and guess what...the teacher-idiot will probably contradict himself and be a hypocrit of the same he critiques! He's just describing isolatic despotism ...fascism... the opposite of it all! :P

The best thing you can do is to raise your hand in class and say "Excuse me Mr./Mrs. *whatever*, you are wrong. Communism actually means a classless statelesss society run along the lines of from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs. The USSR was not communist, communism is impossible in one country. Real communism is the true definition of democracy. It is democracy in all aspects of life."

If you say this, your teacher will hate you but the students might even be interested. I did something similar and got great results! I got one kid to admit that communism isnt bad! Trust me, saying this will do more harm than good.

Are you from Ontario? If you are, then I've been through the same course as you. I was lucky in that I had a good teacher who was, though by no means a communist or even a social democrat, very willing to allow and engage in open discussion and not have it reflect in the student's mark.

In your situation, though, screw the teacher. Say what you want. There's really not much he can do to you and get away with it. Even if he gives you lousy marks on your essays and assignments, you could always get another teacher to look over it and vouch for you.

If all else fails (yourself included), you can take the course online.

this reminds me of the time i had an argument with my teacher about calling Gavrilo Princip a terrorist....

"Gavrilo Princip (July 25, 1894 – April 28, 1918) was a Bosnian Serb "nationalist" who killed Franz Ferdinand, Archduke of Austria, and his wife Sophie on June 28, 1914, "

He wanted to free the people and they told him if he came he would be shot. The people in bosnia felt imprisoned by austria-hungary. Then they blamed serbia for it.. "the cause of world war 1"

Well...

This isn't too hard...

Tell your teacher that what she is saying is just what she thinks or what she has been told. There are a lot of people who would disagree with her by being Polite.

THe other option you have got is to take a big hunting knife and a videocam and wait for her in the PArking Lot. And slash her Throat if she doesn't take back what she said. Film this while you are at it.

Next day, go to class and proudly show the Vid you took.

You've lived in a communist controlled country, he hasn't. Plus, I guess you probably know more of the theory than he does. Hence, you're in a better position to judge communism than he is. You owe it to your classmates to put the record straigt. Does he know where you're from by the way...

He meant to say that he lived in a socialist nation. From what I collect about him, he was born in Yugoslavia (former), had his house burned, saw the war and well,... finally migrated to Canada.

Haha, interesting strategy....

I must confess, I'm a tad new to the Marxist philosophy and I can't quite yet bring myself to criticise the USSR as many other socialists do. To me, the USSR attempted to aggresively correct the wrongs of previous stages of history. Maybe they weren't correct all of the time, but they were correct in a general sense to march towards a historical stage of socialism that other nations were lazily observant of. I mean, the USA has "social security" and welfare programs, an inkling of socialism. I feel that we, Marxists, were right, and the USSR simply was marching towards what was right.

I'm open minded to philosophical corrections, but I express as I feel now.

Of course you should say something. Especially as you've experienced it firsthand, you know better than he does. Speak out, comrade! Don't hold back!

This is the second thread I have seen you advocate killing people. What's your problem?

Please refrain from this morbid fascination you seem to have with murder. It's disturbing and the board is potentially liable for your psychotic rants.

You know what would really shake things up a little?

Stand up and walk out of the classroom in the middle of his story.
Then turn round and tell him: 'I'm sorry, I don't want to learn your lies. I want to have my own opinion.'
Then just softly close the door and have a glass of milk in the sun or something.

Then you've got 'm by the balls & you classmates will adore your disobedience.

:P ;)

Tell her that the Amerika invaded the U.S.S.R. for no justifiable reason. You can find more about this in Killing Hope by William Blum (edition 2003).

Listen, Comrade 190driver, I think you should challenge the teacher in a debate with a series of questions and truths about Socialism / Communism. Mention what capitalism does to society. Especially, get on the subject of Communism with the aspect of "free education for all." But you have to know more about his ideologies than he does himself. Tell him about all the misconceptions about Communism that Capitalist Nations seem to teach the youth. Of course, this will not all be discussed at once, but if you challenge him with a question or a statement that he can get around to, then the debate can start. He'll probably ignore them and come up with more lies about Socialism/Communism. Let us know what all happens on your next day in class.

And I agree with The Anarchist Tension to the other members on this thread, stop advocating murder and ways to kill this teacher. It holds such unsound qualities about your true selves.

OleMarxo, I don't think, or neither have I ever thought of thinking about communism is about killing people.

190driver, mind telling us what you did to your teacher, I mean have you debated with her or not?

Yes, I am very curious as well.
