fellow friends I'm sorry to say that all who are out buying che guevara merchandise are doing a big part of what he was fighting against. FRIENDS OPEN YOUR EYES, we are exploiting him, do not get me wrong, I belive che guevara was the greatest person to walk the face of the earth, websites dedicated to him are great but once when westart selling him its as we are shooting him in the back- do not get me wrong I belive in his teachings, My last name is also Guevara, donations are great but WE ARE EXPLOITING HIM

A lot of people are boycotting the boycotting the Che Guevara merchandise, produced in sweat shops throughout South East Asia, but I also want to say, I have been looking at this site a lot longer than I have been a member, and this topic has been discussed over, and over again, and is really quite used up by now.

I was at some shop this one time. Not only did they have tee-shirts, but they had "Bob Marley" and "Jimi Hendrix" incense. (I know that there are kids buying that crap that haven't even heard their songs)
The blood money got to my head and I had a nice little rant with the clerk.
It's horrible when they're dead. They have no means of protecting their names.

Got a point there, it isn't only Che who is having his image defaced, it is others as well, sadly there is little we can do, if there is anything we can, somebody please tell me.

But the Irony of it...
Although we may think it is wrong that che is being 'sold on t-shirts' ( next thing I know we are going to have a bottled Che), many are becoming aware of his ideas and actions because they see him on those Tshirts.
I like that...

Reminds me of the quote "When we hang the capitalists they will sell us the rope" :)

I agree that the image of Che is exploited, so much that he has actually become an accepted everyday figure, where the people he worked with, like Castro are still considered the enemy. Don't buy any Che merchandise and don't even shop at the places that have the stuff like "Hot topic" and other corporate bastards.

I think its ok to buy/wear this gear as long as people know you are a communist and they know you are wearing it not just because its "cool," but because you want to adveratise communism, as SpeCtrE stated.

This HAs Been Done to death!!!!!!!!!!If you want to buy a che shirt buy it.. if i were to stop you id be an asshole. If u have him on your shirt your promoting him and his message, if u don't buy his shirt cuz its "cool" and probably made in a sweatshop, don't be naive, what about all the other clothes you own, unless you made them, they were made in the same sweatshops yet don't promote Che's message.
choose as u may

False, I haven't bought any new clothes in almost a year. Buy clothes from thrift stores and people that make them by themselves like at the weekly market in my town but since these places don't seem to have much Che apparel in stock I am boycotting Che products. Also you can make your own shoes it is really easy, Steal This Book explains one way, or make rope sandals.

I can see both sides of this argument. The supporting of a capatilist company by purchasing such attire. And the fact that if seen wearing such a shirt, might just spark conversation about Che, or put that image in the mind of another who may soon also see the positives of Che and his political way.
So, why not offer the shirts for free. Well, somebody has to pay for the services, the clothing, the ink, etc... The point is, unless you are going to make your own clothes, and just give them out, you (and I am talking about those who live in the U.S.) will just have to purchase one to make your statement. I don't see buying a shirt of Che, as giving in to capatilism, as much as I see it as displaying the face of a great human. What you do with the rest of your life, how you live day to day, will be more of a telling sign as to giving in to capitalism or not.

I agree with rikguilera somewhat.
Only boycotting Che shirts seems rediculous, how r u accessing the internet right now with an internet connection suporting capitalism. wut OS are u running if ur not using linux ur supporting capitalism. do u use gasoline? my point is u are goin to support capitalism thats why the system is so efficient... so why not by a che shirt and while u are supporting capitalism u are also supporting communism, which seems much better. when you boycott; cars, tv, radio, computers all things difficult to access without supporting capitalism, then u should boycott che shirts

For me it is not so much the problem of supporting capitalism, there is no way to avoid it, the problem is, Che fought against capitalism, and now large capitalist companies are marketing his image, by doing the very things he fought against.

Haven't you come across people who think that the picture on the T-shirt is a Rockstar?

well, Atleast they are not getting the whole profit. People are getting to know who Che is, the smart ones atleast.
But I would suggest, that is if you are planning to go to a T-shirt business that you put a big Hammer and sickle somewhere in Che's Image.
H&S would buy that ... So would I

Che is my idol.
I express myself through my clothing.
I want Che on my clothing.
I made my own Che shirt on a T-shirt I bought for around 5 bucks. (XXXXL Tall)
There's your solution.

I'd much rather wear a shirt with his face on it made in a sweatshop than a normal shirt made in a sweatshop!
