Her life is sort of depressing. I forget how old she was, but during her life she was on a bus and there was an accident. That accident prevented her from having children because it practically destroyed one of her sexual organs (I forgot which one). So basically she had many miscarriages and was very depressed. She is an excellent painter though.

She is an excellent artist and I've always liked her work, but I am just now finding out that she is a communist, and I am particularly surprised by the fact that she had an affair with Trotsky, that kicks ass.

Frida's great.
I saw a movie about her. "Frida". Salma Hayek starring.
But unfortunately I don't know how accurate it is, considering that it's a Hollywood movie.

Yeah, she did have a real tragic life, the accident she had when she was young left her imoblilised for along time and she had problems ever since then where she would have to be put in a plaster cast for months at a time. She once said the two bigegst tragedy's in her life where the accident and her relationship with diego rivera, he had many affairs which is what lead to alot of frida's depression. She was a strong communist all through her life, hhaha lucky biatch to have an affair with trotsky

I think she purposely rocked the uni-brow as some kind of political statement

Yeah, she couldn't carry a child to term, it was becasue of the bus accident, a metal pole went right through her vagina(ouch!!!!) damaging her back permanently.
Some of Kahlo's work was really great. I like "The Love Embrace of the Universe, the Earth, Myself, Diego and Señor Xólotl" and "My Dress Hangs There or New York" But the blood and guts stuff like "
A Few Little Pricks" "Henry Ford Hospital" and "The Two Fridas" kindof grosses me out.
She ended up denouncing Trotsky and supporting Mao...

Frida was a truly amazing artist. The movie was pretty cool even though they only decided to show the hollywood friendly parts of her life. Like the affair wit Trotsky! Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

Frida was not a surrealist, she was a realist. Her Husband Diego argued this point very much.
Frida had both surrealist and realist influences...she was one of André Breton's commie buddies and she exhibited with the French surrealists besides.

This is true, except i have much on frida and she always said that she would not class herself as a surrealist like many of her comrades, beacuse of her tragic real life, the things she portrayed in her paintings were hardly surreal to her.
