Design me a Tattoo

So, in June I'm going to be in Chicago for an IWW centenerary celebration but for the week before that I'm going to just be hangint out with my good friend Emily, drinking a lot, and causing a ruckus in general.

One of things Emily and I have planned is that we are going to get tattooed. I'm having trouble deciding what I want exactly. I want something that reflect my Anarchist politics, but that is not just a cheesy circle-A.

Right now, I'm thinking of maybe just getting a red and black star like this:

but that seems too common and plain. I also thought about maybe getting a RAAN symbol:

I'd be cool with getting a Circle-A, but I'd like to incorporate either "No War But the Class War" or "No War Between Nations, No Peace Between Classes" in it.

Does anyone who has any graphics skills here want to come up with a good design for me that I can show to a tattoo artist? If I choose one someone here comes up with, I'll take a pic of it and post it when I get the tattoo done.

I like the RAAN symbol (definately the kind of symbol that would 'work' as a tatoo), but it does make me think of the Nazi flag, i dunno why, the colours? It just looks kind of sinister :P Although, now i think about it, if you did get a RAAN tatoo you wouldnt get the white outline, and there'd be no red background, so yeah, that would good i guess.

What about the 'anarchist love' symbol? :)

Sonofrage, I would highly advise you against getting a tattoo that was specific to a certain sect of the Leftist movement. If you end up developing your ideas more you will really hate that tattoo.

Yeah, I'm already fucked if I change drastically in my politics. Even just get a simple red star, at least that covers a better range of left politics, but you're still fucked if you decide to become a right-winger for some reason. :)

well I'd definitely still get an Anarchism-related tattoo. If I ever change my beliefs, I'll have a constant reminder of what a fucking sellout I've become haha.

Very good point, tatoos for all! Perhaps the communist league can take this up as a policy for all non-proletarian members, so if/when they sell-out they'll always have a scar of shame! :P

I really hope you can stand getting that tattoo in the area you've showed. It'll hurt like a mother fucker. I have one in the general vacinity (starting about where the "BME" thing is) and the skin there isn't as tough as on other parts of the arm, I was advised to reconsider by the tattooist's assistant. It's a cool spot though, but lets hope you have a high threshold for pain :P

I'm thinking about getting a bracelet done on the other arm, and the further down or up the forearm you go hurts the most, more than just in the center.

and thinking back, I don't care that people say the outline hurts the most, it's not true, it all hurts :P

Aye, the forearm underside, the lower back, and the ankle are some of the worst places to get tattoo's due to nerves.

I know that when I get it tatoo'd, I'm going to invert the black/white. :P For some reason, though, I think I like the "clean" version a little better, because the messy, punky one has been so misinterpreted as a symbol that confused teens spraypaint on cop cars. It is still quite attractive, though..
