When I goto events and demonstrations, I have always been asked many times what my position is. Or rather among the Marxists: "Are you Marxist?" During a conference I was with a fellow comrade and he was approached by another comrade with a newspaper. He intoduced himself like this: "Hello I am trotskyist. How about you?" And another comrade with a newspaper came forth: "I am Maoist. Are you?" My friend just looked at them and replied: "I'm neither." And both of these comrades made these weird looking faces like they were confused [as in how can one not be Trotskyist or Maoist?]

Anyways, I am sure these comrades are doing fine today somewhere...but what am I?

I think thats rather besides the point. I am not defined by what I "believe' in or what others "think" I am. Believe me, it is no fun having someone point to you and tell you that what you say makes you an anarchist, and you know deep inside that you are no anarchist]. This is the type of work that police cops do...already suspecting people from off the street and prejudging them and cutting you down.

Reality determines what I am and what I should do. Lenin once said that one should be as "Radical as Reality." Its because Lenin knew that reality, the world right here and now is constantly demanding from us what we should be.

Yes. It is important that one knows where one stands. But this is no reason to attack another. in fact most of the threads in here are directed against each other: most of which are brothers of the revolutionary struggle. this is what I call revolutionary potential going to waste.

So the big question is: Are you a Marxist or are you a Revolutionary?

If one thinks about it, anyone can be an armchair abstract Marxist. But not every Marxist have the guts to be a revolutionary.

Just as Malcolm X said: Freedom for everybody or freedom for nobody! Revolution does not belong to the Marxists. Revolution is for the people. And if you are a Marxist revolutionary then you know what I am talking about. For all revolutionaries are brothers and sisters amongst each other, no matter if they are Christian revolutionaries, Marxist revolutionaries, etc etc. If you are revolutionary, you are my brother and I am yours.

Yours for the revolution,

I hear you comrade. Unfortunately, you're right, there are a lot of abstract, book-reading-all-day Marxists on this site. I could name a few names, but I have a feeling that we know who the holier-than-thou Marxist theorists are.
