I was hired by a certain company to work 8 hours a day for $30,000.00 a year. Recently a new company has purchased the old and by doing so inherited all of the old company's workers including myself. Now they have demanded that I work an extra hour a day for a total of 9 hours without even consulting me or negotiating with me. Does this entitle me to a raise? I'm not certain how US Labor laws apply in this instance. Please advise.
