I am a proud man. I do not cry over trivial matters.
The treatment one human recieves from another is enough.

I've heard this story once before, but it was never written down or confirmed. I had hoped it was hype and rumour.

This is more atrocious then the time I heard the U.S. Army killed an Iraqi "accidently" in a crusified style (suffocated because he was hung by his arms while they were tied behind his back).
This is worse then the soldier who shot that kid in the mosque.

This is worse then beating people to death.

Bruises fade quickly. Bone heal easily. The murdered die an innocent death.
The mind is difficult to clense. The soul cannot be mended.

"'Brooke' came back round his [the prisoner's] other side, and he could see that she was beginning to withdraw her hand from her pants," said Sgt Saar.

"As it became visible, the Saudi saw what looked like red blood on her hand."

When the interrogator wiped what he thought was menstrual blood on his face, the prisoner raged, almost breaking free from his handcuffs.

But "Brooke" taunted him further, said Erik Saar, asking whether Allah would be pleased with him and telling him to have fun trying to pray.

Finally the detainee was returned to his cell without water, leaving him unable to cleanse himself.

The sad thing is most Americans can never know how badly this hurts.
Arabs are just as proud as kamakazis.
Western culture has different words for "shame" but they do not know the meaning.

If I was in that situation I would be more worried about catching a VD than becoming 'unclean'

I guess I am abhuman.

I don't think you realize how terrible this kind of torture actually is.. it's enforced culture-shock.

I would imagine it's akin to you being force-fed your own feces on a silver platter. I just goes against everything you know as "clean." It's a very traumatic thing, and likely just as bad (if not worse) than physical torture.

That's why I think it's a good idea not to hold stupid concepts like 'spiritual cleanliness' - it renders one immune to such torture

That's a bad example. Shit eating is a practically universal taboo and there are actual reasons why it's a bad idea - getting your face smeared with blood (even menstrual blood) is nothing in comparison. At least to me.

For people like me, who hold nothing sacred, this kind of torture is useless.

I'm not saying it's a good idea to have anything close to such concepts. It is, however, more than just his religion; it's also a cultural taboo there, one that you can't just tell people to "get over." That takes time. Culture is ingrained into people, and can't just be extracted.

And, until recently, aversion to blood was a good idea as well.. as well as aversion to eating pork. Both carry diseases. Without the proper equipment, you can't tell clean blood from diseased blood. That's why it was taboo.

You don't need to be Muslim to be disgusted about having what you think is menstrual blood smeared on your face!
The treatment of detainees has just sickened me.

That is sick and twisted.

I bet they do worse things at Guantanamo -- much worse.

Wasn't this Brooke woman released from all charges? I know one of the Abu Gharib American phycos where.

This is really fucked up, and I'm goddamn sick of this. Typical conduct from such soldiers, unfortunately.

Wurkwurk, you're probably right, I bet they do worse at Guantanamo.

Theres also another thing that happened this last week in Guantanamo. Some CIA interrogators flushed the Koran down the toilet in front of suspected insurgents detained in Guantanamo. The world knows about this now and say that the desecration of the Koran is an outrage.

Well the CIA did it to the Koran, so that means people can desecrate the King James Bible (what a bullshit bible) in front of Evangelists. Plus maybe the flag can be burned now. Thats just how I feel when those fuckers desecrated the Koran.

Of course it's an inhuman case of psychological torture. However I certainly don't condone the archaic sexist beleif that women are impure because they are menstrating. Any muslim should be aware of the patriarchical nature of the custom taken from the traditon of the Jews, the reason Jewish preists were all men, same with catholic priests despite the fact the church declared that menstrating women being impure is not a matter of dogma.

There were right's in southern Pakistan and all over Afghanistan because of the treatment of the Koran. Several people have been killed and plenty of us flags have been burned. Unfortunately a number Int. Aid org. have also been the target of rioters looting. If the protesters had the courage of their convictions they would go loot the U.S, base, not unarmed clinics, and food distributers.

I dont know the reason why they looted those, perhaps they wanted medicine and food. Because the US controls the flow of medicine and food, it seems obvious people will loot and take what they need to support their community.

It also seems obvious that the citizens dont want any US soldier presence, because every known US occupation is a possible target of attack, which would kill civilians in the process. I noticed on the news that an army vehicle was bombed, which made more US soldiers move in. But the citizens were so unwelcoming of more soldier presence that the Iraqi police had to make them leave the area.

eating your friend after he died then ok, and being forced to do that, would you like that?

that is horiffic and a disgusting attrocity. it makes me sick, and the only reason i am not vomiting is because i have a rather strong stomach, however the whole principle of the idea is morally and physically degrading, yes our troops are over there defending the Iraqi people's freedom alright....bullshit, words cannot describe what i am feeling and thinking the immense level of sickness is incomprehensible

Urban Rubble

Good lord people, if this qualifies as an attrocity then I'd say we've come pretty far.

Remember My Lai? That was an attrocity. This is nothing compared to what goes on everyday in America's prisons at home, much less abroad. What happened at Abu Ghraib (not the nudie photos, I'm talking about the beating to death of prisoners) was an attrocity. This is not. It's an insult, that is all.

Not that I support or condone it, I don't of course. I just think we have much more important things to worry about than prisoners being smeared with ink.

I live not to far away from an Army Reserve "base". They call it a "base" but the guys only spend like one saturday a month hopping over fences and climbing rope ladders. Now that most of the full time troops are home, the reserves are over there. Expect things to get worse. Most of them, from around here anyway (South Eastern US), are rednecks who have racism and "patriotism" flowing through every vein in their body. They are all ready to get their hands on some Iraqi or any middle-easterner for that matter. It makes no differnce to them. So, I'm sure that we havent seen anything compared to what is to come.

The best part is, these rednecks think they are protecting freedom!

This is disgusting, although it's really exactly what I've come to expect from USA troops. God the USA piss me off. Fucking extreme capitalist, degrading, oppressing arseholes. They ought to lock the US troops up rather than virtually harmless Iraqis.

break them chains!

The best part is, these rednecks think they are protecting freedom! [QUOTE]

thats exactly correct. nowadays you see magnets on cars aying "freedom isnt free" if freedom isnt fre then why are wild animals free all the time (as long as humans arent fuckin it up for them) freedom should be natural. not something to kill for.

Well the CIA did it to the Koran, so that means people can desecrate the King James Bible (what a bullshit bible) in front of Evangelists. Plus maybe the flag can be burned now. Thats just how I feel when those fuckers desecrated the Koran. [QUOTE]

this is also very good observation! if you were to show someone a picture of a person burning the american flag or the bible then im sure they would say somthing like "oh its just them damn commies!" but at the same time what do you think there point of view is? "oh just those stupid capitalist republicans." treat others as you want to be treated. i think we all learned this in kindergarten. DUH!
(sorry bout quotes dont know how to use them yet this is my first post!)

I think you're problem is the first quote tag should look like this:
[ QUOTE ]
with the second looking like this
[ /QUOTE ] .

No spaces in the brackets though.

This is absolutely sickening and the soldiers should be dealt with in a very 7th century manner.
Also I heard somewhere that we send soldiers to Uzbhekistan where they literally boil people!

Also I heard somewhere that we send soldiers to Uzbhekistan where they literally boil people!

Uzbekistan's dictator Islam Karimov is allowed to do whatever he wants, even as you said, boiling opponents alive, simply because he is nice to Bush.

Such is the nature of the freedom-loving and fighting-for-justice USA.
