Hello,
I am new here, but have been coming to the "che-lives" page for quite some time now. I am hoping to share some knowledge and gain some as well. I live in San Antonio Tx., and am pretty active in a few activist groups. Mainly dealing with enviromental issues. I am a writer and artist, and have also just published my first book. I hope to make some friends here, as I am searching for like minded people. Hope you have a nice day, and thanks for reading my little intro.
Adios,
Rik Aguilera

Hello, and I hope you like it here.

Congrats on that book. . .have you ever had your artwork published? I used to do cartoons for a freebie paper myself.

I have sold a few paintings, and I did some drawings for a book my friend wrote. I only do my art for myself now though. Just could not get the hang of selling a painting to somebody who had no idea..
I am sure that I will have fun here. I always do.

It is called "once around the block". It is really just 12 yrs of journals that I was able to put into the shape of a book. I talk about the people I have met, some of the things that I have done, and the insight that I was left with. It talks about my medical problems (cancer) that I had, and what came from them. And it goes into how and why I do what I do today (ie, job, writing, climbing, helping others,etc..) One of the chapters (titled open eyes) goes into my political and religious awareness. It shows some pics of me and friends at a few anti-war protest, and state meetings in Austin. It will be out in about a month now, as I just completed the final "legal" ends of printing. Penguin is the publishing house that picked it up.
Thanks for asking about it.
