What's up with all the mod rock and ska on there? Where's the Sham? Or Skrewdriver? Or any 77 punk bands?

What, no Crass?
And no Damned either. How can they have Sex Pistols, but no Damned?

Because skrewdriver turned out to be racist assholes and that is all they deserve to be remembered as.

Yeah I know, but the original lineup was a pretty big 77 band.
I'm not suprised by the lack of Crass, I don't think they would've given permission to be included with the pistols and the clash and stuff.

I wouldn't consider the Jam, Madness, The Police or the Kinks to be punk....

The Jam can squeeze by, even though they were mod rock, my understanding is that they had a huge punk following. And thier music was very simple and fast, and it had a lot in common with other 77 bands.

the jam are punk, don't really like hte police much or the kinks really. Madness, while they might not be punk but are a lot of fun and should be included anyway.

Interesting note here since you like Madness...scuggs (I think that was his name) who was in madness was a pall bearer at Ian Sturart's (singer from Skrewdriver, founder of Blood & Honour) funeral. And they had been friends since college.

Hmmm. I'm not nearly as bothered by the fact that it's mostly not-"punk" tracks, as by the fact that it's mostly major-label bullshit.
Nothing on CRASS Records, nothing from Moterhate, Bluurg (A Heads? Subhumans?), etc.
Just another product for the consumer's head . . . <_<
In terms of new Copilations of British "punk" I'm psyched about Overground Records' new comp. Dig the track list:
DIRT-Antiwar
ZOUNDS-War
METRO YOUTH-Red Rifles
FLOWERS IN THE DUSTBIN-Novembers Song
KRONSTADT UPRISING-Blind People
POLITICAL ASYLUM-Disarm Or Die
ASTRONAUTS-Typically English Day
ANTHRAX- Introduction To War
A-HEADS-Forgotten Hero
THE SYSTEM-Dogs Of War
SANCTION-Unknown Soldier
INSTIGATORS-The Blood Is On Your Hands
BLOOD ROBOTS-The Valley
LOST CHEREES-Why Does It Have To Be A Dream
RIOT/CLONE-Neu-vestation
YOUTH IN ASIA-When The Wind Blows
PSYCHO FACTION-Threat
NAKED-What A Way To Die
OMEGA TRIBE-Duty Calls
ANTI-SYSTEM-Government Lies
FACTION-Obligatory War Song
RUBELLA BALLET-Belfast
THE SNIPERS-I Know

VMC have you heard about that peace punk CD comp that they've been releasing. I think it's like three CDs, and they're releasing them over a few months. I know one is out, and two might be.

Yup - that's actually the tracklisting from the first comp.
