I'm new here at Revolutionary Left and thought this to be the best place to ask everybody how to deal with situation at my school. I currently go to a high school in Georgia and we are required to wear uniforms. The students are given the liberty to wear belt buckles so I had to go out and buy a Che belt. I was called into the office and penalized for this 'offense'. I had read only one book on Che at the time and could not fight back against these republicans. Could anyone please give me anyadvice for the next time a republican gets on me for supporting Che's ideas and philosophy?

 ... Wait wait wait... You were penalised for wearing a Che belt buckle? - What in particular were they penalising you for? - What was the punishment?
TIPS:
Read - marxists.org - Man and Socialism in Cuba (http://www.marxists.org/archive/guevara/1965/03/man-socialism.htm) by Ernesto Che Guevara
Read - marxists.org - Message to the Tricontinental (http://www.marxists.org/archive/guevara/1967/04/16.htm) by Ernesto Che Guevara
You should also read up a little on what education would be like under Socialism ...
But to me, it just sounds like they are trying to quell you're newly formed revolutionary spirit ... I wouldn't take their shit, technically (if you're aloud to wear your own belt-buckle) they cant do squat! - I'd say they just dont what you to turn into a free thinking individual who is going to point out how shit the American education system is.

PS:
Welcome to the boards, I'm kinda new here myself - never sacrifice your integrity and dont take shit from no one... When you discover Socialist Politics for the first time it feels like your at the start of a truly worth while journey - Stay on track...
PPS:
What Che book did you read - A good one to give you a feel of his life and struggles is Jon Lee Anderson's biography of Che Guevara (Thats the book that got me started on this road)...

Bah. The only help I have to give you is, "Don't buy into the commodity culture!" Capitalists are CASHIN' OFF at yer attachment to the Che' personality cult, arr ;)
But truth to be told, that these "republicans" (read: teachers and the principal) that are harrassing you for your "beliefs" in "Che"'s ideology (like it's exclusively his!) doesn't seem very likely, comrade, no matter how much I'd like to believe in your conspiracy theory that they're (sort of) "after your belt" because of him and his ideology. Since you said it was an uniformed school, this is perhaps not so strange...even if you think it's an "exception to the rule" just because it is not "mentioned in the rule", do you think bigoted nit-pickin' rule-thumpin' authorities care? HAH!
And not all school authorities are republicans, renember, some are just "obligated" to follow what the current government has decided....unfortunately.......and you DON't need to read a friggin' book to "fight back". Let me tell you what you 'need' to fight back: Courage, and a hand full of fist. That's right, walk up there and kick their ass. Hahahahah! There you go "reprimande for unorthodox clothing"! We'll see if they live long enough trough the day to "punish" you.
Lastly but not leastly.....
After doing that, you probably should quit school (http://www.revolutionaryleft.com/index.php?showtopic=32999) before you are caught!

Your education is more important than making a statement.
If they threaten to expel or suspend you for wearing it, I would advise you to listen to them. Live to fight another day comrade.

Or you can just wear it "secularly". I.e. when they're coming, hide it. Then take it on and again and go around with it like nothing's happen. By the way, it's a stupid rule ;)

True but sooner or later he is bound to get caught in the act.
If you are willing to go out on a limb for your rights, (don't know your situation) ask them to see the school policy on dress code. If it doesn't say anything specifically about wearing che belt buckles or che paraphernalia, it should be fine. After all, you are not wearing anything that directly incites revolution or the overthrow of the system. His symbology could mean anything to you. Likewise, if their school text books have photos of Hitler, Stalin, Reagan, Columbus, or any other creep, maybe they should first see about getting rid of those to set an example.
And tell those swarmy school officials they shouldn't be taking such a great interest in gawking at your genital area! they got no reason to be looking down there!

More practically, call the ACLU or similar group. Even a phone call from them might make the administration a bit more cautious.

a known terrorist!? fuck those guys if they are going to call "the most complete human being of our time" a known terrorist. those right wing hick bastards are the terrorists. they are the ones praying upon the innocent proletariat souls of the weak everywhere with weapons of forced labor and starvation. i would have adivsed just not wearing the buckle at all in order to avoid unnecessary confrontation the stein, but if they are going to call che a terrorist, you obviously need to stand up and educate them in reality. read up and make the truth known.

Che, a terrorist!?! - Far out, American schools are going down the drain - I cant beleive you were suspended!
- I would call some kind of Student Union
- I would throw Jon Lee Andersons book at them (just 'cause its heavy)
- Then I'd tell them to stick their bourgois laws !
After getting suspended for that, man - I would be attempting to start a student movement in your school... Seriously...
You should get - Viva La Revolucion - written on your forhead and go streaking around your school (hahaha)

Why thank you, I am flattered that you would choose to listen to me...in all modesty. Perhaps it's one of those rare moments some really does. The honor is still mine. If all else fails, start a passionate speech to other students and rally a revolution. Storm the principal's office in army uniform and shit with hard-plastic guns and yell "VIVA LA REBELDE!" jumping trough the windows and kicking everyone's ass, then occupy the office and make a statement that "The school has now been conquered by the student's dictatorship. The teachers will be hanged at front as example! Soon, you will succumb. We will come with the laws of the new Communism soon.".

I get heckled all the time for being a commie. So my teacher always talks about how crazy Stalin was, and how che was so "bad". I just smile and nod. Eventually, the kids started calling the Communist Manifesto my bible, since I have it every day.
Ok, first off, contact the ACLU most definatley. If thats a private school, your rights are unfortunatley restricted a bit. If its a public school, you should be able to get it overturned. We have a school uniform, which is an insane one, I wear quotes on the back of my shirt, taped on, im protected by the first amendment. Oh, I love american "freedoms" (read: loopholes) :D

I would tend to agree with that statement. But the thing is: if this guy goes to a skool where they expell you for wearing a che belt...then i DONT WANT TO KNOW what type of education he gets.
This is probably a private skool with right wing and religious tendencies????
My advice is get the fuck out of that skool and join the working class in your local public skool.

True but his education, while probably conservative, is the best he can probably get.
