While talking to my mother one night we got into a little debate(me-pro communist way of life / mother-anti-communist). She brought up something interesting to me that I've heard a lot and that is that there is no benefits from communism. That because everyone is making the same thing (weather they work or not) is not sufficient to humans. My response to it was something along the lines of this:

First of all you speak of human-nature. That is total bullshit because in the current capitalist society they say that the seven deadly sins are what humans will do in excess if they are not kept in check by a government of some sort. Many capitalists believe the "sins" to be in human-nature. That we can be broken down and that gluttony, pride, greed, lust, wrath, sloth, and envy is what we are made up of and that is why communism/anarchy will never work. I completely disagree with that because those are capitalist notions. Capitalists are raised to be better than thier neighbor. That they need to stop at nothing to get to the top. They will kill, steal, and lie so that they may be the best. But in a communist society everyone can have what they want whenever. The people won't have to kill one another just so they can have a 50 cent pay raise so they can feed themselves. The only thig communism asks in return is that you help to make this wealth so others may enjoy it and if people don't help eother one the people around them will get angry at him and banish him, cut him off from the supply, or even worse one might take all the wealth and enslave the people to make them work. I perosnally would work. But if everyone is happy with the current conditions then the scientific development will stop, right? No I don't believe that for the reason that people are going to want to see the stars or reach the bottom of the ocean or travel the world or make doing chores easier, so they will then develop solutions to these problems. And everyone will have these new inventions to help them. Still believe there is no benefits in communism? Well then what would make you feel happier when living in a communist society. Well I'll be god damned you have a problem and I'm pretty sure you'd like a solution. Well in the communist way of life you have no red tape to go through so you can get started on it right that very moment. Oh wait you aren't doing anything productive for the society right now so you won't get your food well think again just by attempting to better that problem you are helping society so you'll be just fine. But thats just my opinion.

Thanks for reading this. I'm sure I might've done this in a crappy form of writing so plz don't dog on me about that. I welcome criticism as long as it isn't idiotic. And I'd love to hear compliments. But any feed back will help me.
Thanks

What did she mean when she said "everyone does the same thing"?

That we can be broken down and that gluttony, pride, greed, lust, wrath, sloth, and envy is what we are made up of and that is why communism/anarchy will never work.

Isn't this exactly what is happening in the capitalist world right now? How we mindlessly are forced to consume, how commercials are placed under our very noses just to make us consume even more than what we already do?

Pride? Take a look on Hollywood.

Greed? Capitalism says it all.

Lust? If you have money - then you can satisfy your lusts.

Wrath? That is required in order to scare the masses of some hollow threat the rulers made up to keep us in check - and also for the weapons industry to produce more and deadly weapons.

It's kindoff ironic that they preach us to "resist" these things, while they literally teach us to do all this already in kindergarten.

I completely disagree with that because those are capitalist notions.

Exactly.

The only thig communism asks in return is that you help to make this wealth so others may enjoy it and if people don't help eother one the people around them will get angry at him and banish him, cut him off from the supply, or even worse one might take all the wealth and enslave the people to make them work.

I suppose it is up to you what kind of society you wish to live in. For me, communism isn't about forcing other people. That's capitalism. In a communist society - you should be encouraged to do something, to build, to paint, make good cookies, or whatever may seem useful to the society.

Communism to me is built on will. And I believe that not a single person could just "do nothing". I don't think that anybody would be happy with just a room to sleep in and food for the day. Sure, they could just do nothing, and live that life, but then again - people have interests. Even people who live in relative "decent" jails have (probably) a will to do something more than just "be there".

But if everyone is happy with the current conditions then the scientific development will stop, right? No I don't believe that for the reason that people are going to want to see the stars or reach the bottom of the ocean or travel the world or make doing chores easier, so they will then develop solutions to these problems.

We're thinking the same thing. Even in feudalist or capitalist systems, there has been progress. And not because the rich and mighty wanted it, but because that was the interest of the inventor (sure, new and more effective weapons were probably wanted by the rulers, but there are other things).

Just like people want to do something more than just "be" - there will always be people who want to invent something, to find out how this or that works, how this cave on that planet looks like, and so on. Even if society would be run by robots, this will would still be there.
