Hey I was just wondering, I started learning on my own from exposure from freinds about anarchaism, and communist beliefs. I slowly begain to reolize as well, that I was only learning(in school) about U.S. and pro capitalist heros. I had never had a class, or any subject at all that touched on the subject of comunism, I only had one goverment class, where comunism was mentiond, but put down, and was said to be an idea by corrupt people that would never work, I also begain to wonder why I only learnd about people who in some way, bennifited the united states, i never heard anything about Che Guevara, or Marx, I was hopeing someone might be able to point out some classes where i might get a wider range of ideas, not centard around how great our goverment is and how capitalism is best

In high school? Don't count on it. The library or the internet are better places to find that type of stuff. In fact, you've come to a great place already. Welcome.

Yeah, I wouldn't put too much faith in your high school to give you a balanced view about communism/anarchism/socialism.

The internet, and Marx and Engels themselves are much better resources.

Reading some of the stickies at the top of learning is a good place to start. If you have any specific questions about theory then post and I'm sure some people will attempt to answer them, or will point you in a direction which will answer them. An Anarchist FAQ <www.anarchyfaq.org> is a good place to start for anarchism.

Its because some people are still scared of communism, like its a threat to their daily existience, they are still living in the cold war. In Fact, none of commie-phobic laws passed in the 50's have been repealed, such as it being illegal to start a communist league in a school. I however, have been fortunate enough to learn a lot about communism and revolutions around the world. I found this site while looking for info on Che. Don't give up on them yet, there is still hope for understanding.

Technically yes. The CPUSA is also an illegal organisation (they used to get soviet funding until they reformed)...technically.

I have never heard of the laws being enforced since the USSR collapsed.

Though we have class about Marxism as the name of 'Politics' since the grade three in junior high, it's almost helpless at all. the teachers repeat it again and again. they try to pour the knowledge in our mind. Most of my classmates didn't
interested in it at all. they just learn it for tests! I'm fascinating in learning Marxism because i read many books after class.
And the Communist Youth League in school in completely useless. it's only a brand, a official brand. everyone in school have to be a league member. But we can't learn anything in the league. And it has no activities to have a chance to use the knowledge in the class.
We have class about Communist and a Communist organization , but we didn't like it. most of you here in this website (i guess most of you are from the western world) didn't have an opportunity to know Marxism in high school class and a chance to start a Communist organization, but you want it so much. What a huge difference between the 'capitalism coutrise' and the 'socialism country'. i feel so sad about it.

My oh my, IS there any school that ISN'T biased to the ideology and/or nationality of their land, even in the slightest? Name one if you can.... I can understand you 'tho, mr. Hamperleft. Teachers are mostly "trying to avoid" the subject of Communism in fear that students will understand the truth and....FIGHT THE POWER! So they give you a projected image of what it is and just dismisses it as that, since EVERYONE believes in an authority, right? I hope this does not become the case in my communist-country. A communist is not necessarily a stalinist. Anyways, welcome to RevLeft :D

perhaps there is (or was) one university that perhaps wasnt/isnt biased (cuz alot of communist-ish teachers teach/taught there, though we're a capitalist country): Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam (Free University of Amsterdam). But i dont know for sure.
