Yep ther was at the 2001 election. There were a few commies and marxist candidates and they got a few votes and the raving loony party beat them (they make fun of polotics and stand as Lord buckethead or whataver) and they probally had to pay back ther entry fee!

actually, the socialist party of the UK did win a couple of seats in the last election surprisingly.

i dont know were the seats were won but i think they have 3, its all on their website.

one thing i remember from looking at their site is that all socialist party mp's recieve the average wage of the constituancy they represent which is, i believe far less than the normal wage of an mp.

All the minor socialist factions clubbed together and formed the Socialist Alliance. Its policy making was crippled somewhat by infighting beween various factions. I think they maybe settling down now though, give tham time, they are quite a new alliance.
Their website is: http://www.socialistalliance.net/.

While in London I was surprised by the amount of commie propaganda and posters etc. Maybe I was in a hot-bed of marxism, but every wall seemed to have a MLP poster stuck up.

I want a socialist alliance candidate in my area of Nottingham! The manifesto looks good, and Tony Benn plays a big role in the party, so I can only say I am for it :) They talk about free borders in the end, a £7 minimum wage, and yes, the MPs gettign paid an average area wage. It's all good stuff :)

There was one candidate in Nottm.East, but I think that was it.Erewash(my constituency)had a candidate for the Socialist Labour Party. Not ideal, even if they are King Arthurs party.
As regards Socialist MP's,I believe that Tommy Sheridan(Scottish Socialist Party)is a Member of the Scottish Paliament, but the 3 socialist party members previously mentioned are councillors(Coventry area I think?) not MP's.
