Since I am both sick and I live in a completely appathetic area with no May Day event anywhere nearby, I would like to request that people post links to reports on May Day events around the world here, either ones you've personally been involved in or not both so I can keep tabs on the events and because I'm compiling a list for my blog.
I can't go on it ( <_< ) but tomorrow there is a long May-Day march through Chesterfield, England which culminates in a market square where the market stalls are all devoted to the event. Apparently most of the speakers tend to be Stalinists, but you can't have everything can you?

Yah. But what do you mean by can't go on it? My blog or the May Day celebrations?
The March! If I went I would have had to get up at a ridiculously early time, which I'm just not going to do on May Day!
Sweden
Well, Sweden is a small country. I will keep to the demonstrations in our three biggest cities: Stockholm (1.2 miljon), Gothenburg (478:055), and Malmö (260:000)
--------
Stockholm:
Peppbrigaden (mostly socialist-anarchists): 8-10:000
The pirate bureau (against copyright, etc): 7-800
Communist party: (stalinist) 1000
--------
Gothenburg:
Syndicalists: 2000+
Left party: 2000
Communist party: (stalinist) 1000
(To compare: the ruling party in both Sweden and Gothenburg; the Social democrats had 1500 in their demonstration)
--------
Malmö:
Syndicalists & Gatuaktionen (communist, situationist): 2000+
--------
Quite a few other leftist demonstrations in these cities, but I have no numbers ye
t.
Heard that there were less riots in Berlin than usual, but there was some serious fighting in Liepzig and other places. Any more reports?

The Left party gathered around 6500-8000 people in Stockholm. More than last year.
Great to see so many communists and anarchists on the streets though. 10:000 (!) with Peppbrigaden, thats terrific. And very nice that the non-parlamentary "extreme" left gathered more people than the established reformist leftist parties. :D
