Forward Union

Firstly I would like to congratulate everyone who has taken part in a demonstration or Protest today, to those have helped organise it, and those that have been arrested.
However, on a much smaller, more local note. I managed to organise a small demonstration in my local town centre. Although we were never going to be sure of the numbers; in the end only three people turned up (including myself) but not to be put off, we began handing out leaflets and waving flags. Promoting the g8 protests and idealistic causes from the left of the spectrum. A colourful response from the public, and an interesting breakdown of stereo types.
Me and two other comrades took to the streets today, expecting certain abuse and congratulations, which is what we got. But interestingly enough, many people wearing large sweatshop brand names, munching their fast food, seemed to show an unusual interest in our stand. In fact, many were fairly intellectual, which is a comparison to many people we met that had some form of political clothing.
"I don't do politics"
"Go back to russia"
"bloody commie"
Are just some of the intellectual responses from the "Great" British public. Nevertheless, amongst us we must have handed out a few hundred leaflets, and had a brilliant time doing it. Im hopeful our actions had a positive effect, but right now im exhausted, and going to leave you with a small selection of pictures taken earlier.
