I'm obviously one of the new kids on the 'Che' block I guess you could say. I admire Che very much, but I would like to learn more about him. What book (or source of info besides Che-lives) would you recommend for someone who wants to learn more about Che? Thanks for your time.

There have been many books written about Che Guevara.

One of the most comprehensive is Che: A Revolutionary Life by Jon Lee Anderson. There are also several books that recreate many of Che's adventures.

If your looking for a film, I suggest you try The Motorcycle Diaries.

Hope this helps.

When approaching the highly turbulent life of Ernesto "Che" Guevara it is critically important to gain an "overall perspective" of his life.

I would suggest first... to read Che's own words.

He wrote a number of comprehensive and informative diaries thought-out his years of travelling and "revolutionary intrigue". Which were, subsequently, his premature death, published for the general public. They include:

The Motorcycle Diaries
The Bolivian Diary
Che in Africa: Che Guevara's Congo Diary

I think one of the important things to remember though is that Che Guevara, although an inspirational revolutionary figure, was only one person in a sea of women and men who have contributed to revolutionary strugge and theory.

Well, I 'spose it's 'quantity over quality', these days. I say as Novel Gentry has in the "Shaving"-thread; "You kids and your burgeouise contraptions"....deeming quality BY quantity! :D

True, but he asked about Che. So we are giving him Che books. If he wanted leftist books in general, we give more leftists titles.

John Lee Anderson's biography on Che is truly the best out there, but like the comrade scimitar said, there is more ou there. You have to be careful about some books out there because they sometimes give wronful information and spread lies like , for example, some books about his death in Bolivia that are misleading and erronious. On the other hand, his diaries are a great insight into his own soul as a man and not a mythical figure. The Motorcycle Diaries is a great movie about his early life. You'd like it. Welcome comrade.
