Indeed. I figured that we ought to have a mod thread in order to report spam and things that don't contribute to debate on this part of the forum.

I'm sorry but I really don't see how "I want to see the streets bathed in blood" contributes to intellectual debate. I didn't want to resort to attacking the kid, but seriously, do I and the other members of this board that want to have serious discussions have to put up with this?

Such as how this thread does not encourage debate within the forum?

There will never be a time that all people only argue, occasionally we sit and make a joke or two. I see the post you are reporting as a debating belief, so you would be wrong again by accusing it of being spam. The poster believes that violence is necessary, and you should debate him on that point instead of trying to get the already busy moderators and administrators to handle your argument for you.

All that aside; I like the idea of a "suggestions box." This would really help and I have already asked about the idea. Perhaps I should propose it...

I agree the idea of a suggestion box is good, but creating a stickied thread for the Mods to monitor every day would be a waste of time. He is asking that people be warned for making a single comment or post that doesnt pertain to the subject.

I agree and I've put up a poll in the CC for the suggestion box idea.

No, just to possibly delete posts. If someone posts big pictures with Bush and Hitler in a thread as a response, you know what that post should be deleted. I don't see what would be so wrong with a mod thread, I've seen plenty of other boards with them.

I understand, that is not a bad idea. If the suggestion box idea doesn't work out the thread might be considered. Basically the suggestions box would likeley be a thread for mods/admins on their borad so it is similar.

I just see this as wrong to dump off a load of work onto the mods and administrators that isnt needed. You have the occasional Bush=Hitler being posted, but we arent being flooded with the crap so why does it matter? I think that just getting a few posts you dont like deleted is crying over something insignificant. Nobody is making you look at the picture or read the post.

You can report a post that you think is unacceptable and a mod or an admin will have a look at it.

And we do warn people for racist, sexist, homophobic remarks...if they do it more than once, they are likely to be banned.

Otherwise, the game is between the players...the referees are not supposed to be "the stars of the game". We'd prefer to stand out of the way and let people argue their positions in whatever way they see fit.

If you think someone's "joke" is a distraction, then either ignore it or reply with a tart comment of your own -- something along the lines of "go play in Chit-Chat and let the grown-ups discuss this question without childish interruptions", perhaps.

But the easiest course is to just ignore irrelevant posts. :)
