The 1917 October Revolution in Russia was the defining moment of the 20th century. More than any single event of the century — including the
First World War, which ushered it in — the October Revolution defined much of the course of history for the 74 years it and its successor regimes ruled over one-sixth of the earth. In spite of what became of the society that
arose from this great proletarian revolution, the October Revolution is and remains the high water mark of the worldwide movement of working people for their liberation from wage slavery and exploitation to this point in history. Therefore, it is vital that proletarian revolutionaries of the 21st century understand and draw the lessons from this heroic and tragic chapter of the 20th century.

This very interesting class analysis of the USSR presents the events of May 1918 onwards as the triumph of the petty-bourgeoisie over the proletariat.
