Sorry that I wasen't able to tell of you this earlier; but today is the "Day of Truth" where religous right wing Christain high school kids protest against homosexuality as it being against the word of god nation-wide.....so the gay community and its allies organized something to meet that.

The day before the "Day of Truth" was the "Day of Silence"; students from all over the country stayed silent for the entire day without uttering a word to protest the discrimination of homosexuals, queers and bi-sexuals. At my school; I took part among about 30-50 of us who supported the cause; alot of people were either uninterested or were raving homophobes sadly.
Alot of the right wing religous kids wore t-shirts of bible verses denoucing gayness; as far as one that said "GOD HATES FAGS".

Worst came in my history class; my teacher REALLY hates me there; he knew I was taking part in the protest along with this other girl who was in my class. He made one of the kids with the "GOD HATES FAGS" t-shirts to present it to class and asked me a very, very nasty and hurtful question which I wish to not to repeat. Then, basically encoraged the class to openly mock the girl and me; taunting us saying stuff like "Well, aren't you going to speak up and stand up for gay rights? Or are you some gay little pussy?"

....knowing that we were going to remain silent. It was pretty indiginating; but we withstood it. We were called "gay", "bis", "faggots" and other names throughout the class.

After the class; the girl who was also protesting was on the verge of tears.

The worst part was history; but there was a little harrasment even outside of class; some people admired us for our stand; others gave us the connotation of "faggot lovers".

Some people I actually called freinds turned out to be raving homophobes, I got a taste of how rotten and disgusting discrimination can be.

Today during the "Day of Truth" the religous right kids rallied together with their disgusting t-shirts and were supported by the homophobic population of the school as well. I and others that took part in the "Day of Silence" were harrased and pestered for being "sinners" and such. I am shocked at how homophobic my school is actually.

And I'm not even gay. And right now I am fuming in anger; its was extremely disgusting what I saw today and yesterday; and the "freinds" I just lost as well; it shows how fucking rotten people can be inside.

Actually, I'm feeling quite sick from the experince. How religon and society can turn a normal peaceful pack of people into raving, bloodthristy close minded bigots.

Firstly, before I say anymore; Well done.

Your actions im sure, have had a positive impact in some way shape or form. Im sure I speak for everyone else who reads this when I say, that you and people like you, give me a strong feeling of hope. That such rational and just thought exists and can be carried to such extremes...well, let me just say that even though I wasn't with you, I certainly would have been standing by your side, if I attended that school.

Unfortunately what happened to you in those two days is a microcosm, of religious strife against peoples freedoms. What religion does to peoples minds, is disgusting, unjust, corrupt, and you and your comrades deserve the highest congratulations for sticking to your principals, in the face of such intolerable ignorance.

Congratulations man!! Fuck the homophobes for theirs is a dying ideal!!

damn straight man! i find it ironic that these people believe that God hates gays (who would of thought; a supreme being suffering from macho insecurity), but has absolutely nothing against facists and bigots. I wish there were a god, if only to be able to see the look on thier faces when he tells them they're all dip-shits.
Although im not sure staying silent was the best form of protest, not to degrade what you did, but it seems no one will ever change if people just keep their moouths shut.

Do you live in a particulary religious part of the US?

Why do the teachers do this, can't you get the teacher fired.

I can't believe how crazy the US is. At my old school there were poster criticising homphobia and a teacher would of got fired for doing what your history teacher did.

It wasen't my idea; it was organized by the Gay-Straight Alliance; I just supported it and took part along a few other red comrades of mine on campus.

I do not live in a religous part; but its rather very conservative and very, very homophobic :( ; the religous right in a minority, but they have alot of support from the homophobes.

The cool part is; we got some of the fellow protestors interested in Socialism; me and my comrades being Communists and Socialists; we aren't taken that seriously all the time; but when people saw us out there along side them taking part in the protest, it opened their eyes. The girl in my history class who I went out with later to talk with was very interested in Socialism as a general idea; she being a green party leaning liberal. :)

Also there is this hot lesbian couple that are interested in me; SCORE!

haha, makes me think if any of these male homophopes have something against lesbians - cause from the general trend, it seems lots of people love lesbians.

Just goes to show that alot of their rubbish is based on blind prejudice and macho insecurity.

Wow, man, just, wow. Well - this all has to do with social conditioning and the fact
that the parents brought up their children to hate certain kinds of people who diffe
-rent - like working class revolutionaries like ourselves or people who happen to
be of a different sexual orientation like bisexuals and homosexuals. Plus one is
viewed as a outcast in capitalist society for not hating homosexuals and bisexuals.

2

Futhermore - why should we - as humans - hate people who are different? why
should we attack others who are physically, emotionally and mentally different?
I am glad that you stood up to homophobia and 'biphobia' so to speak - I do hope
that what you have done may have set a example to all students in your school.
If not - then they are nothing more than self-serving idiots who can not compreh
-end physical, psychological and emotional reality. It is up to them to break out
of that servility.

Comrade, you have far more patience and maturity than I. When I am confronted on a level where people refuse to intelligently argue, and resort to such petty behavior, I have the habit if showing people my more violent side. This involves things such as turning around and breaking the nose of the Republican who sat behind me in english class. I honor your behavior, and that of the girls. Please tell her that she has our full support also (I feel horrible for her being put through that and as far as I know, not getting any support as you are from us).
